I have no idea about Belize, but here is something that does.

and owning a resort is gonna be cool I'll be willing to bet.

Belize is RIGHT next to Mexico.

Well I guarantee you that there is no lacrosse there. Thats for sure. It's off the coast of Mexico right? Yeah, you definitely won't find any lacrosse there. I've been to St. Thomas, and Jamaica, and they had lacrosse there, but Belize is way west, and I really doubt it would be the same there.

o yea there are a lot of kids so maybe you can start lacrosse up. It somethinglike 45% of the Belize population is under 15

Thats pretty neat that you're moving down there...
But, i wouldn't say theres a huge amount of lacrosse down there.

A former friend of my dad did something similar in Costa Rico. Ended up selling the place for like 12 million. Then bought another one in Panama, and is apparently doing very well. Good luck to you. As for lacrosse, Just walk around with a stick, and bring a couple with you to get it exposure. It should pick up quickly.

where would they buy their sticks if they decided to like it?

AttackMan17

Do they have like sports authority, or a place like that?
Maybe there.

The same websites we buy them at.

haha, I don't think so.

haha, you could make up the rules of the game, and play it like chumash. (goto rock-it pocket for details)

if it gets big enough down there to the point where people want to buy sticks, order some from the states every once in a while and sell them on a street corner? then maybe it will get to the point where someone will actually start a lacrosse store down there and everything will be all right

Is the resort going to be like an all inclusive thing? Like where you don't have to leave, and food and stuff is free? Or is it basically just a place where you sleep and eat dinner and breakfast at, and the visitors explore the island? I know nothing about Belize really, besides it's location, and after reading that like 45% percent of the population is under 15 or something. That means more than likely the island is very poor, and probably couldn't afford to play lacrosse there.

Just look at in a postive perspective; you could become the best lacrosse player in the country.

The best lacrosse player in belize.... if that doesnt satisfy you, you could open up a lax shop for buisness? and there is always the pirate job to fall back on....god I would love to be a pirate

It definitely doesn't have the most pirates nowadays, but it is a hot spot. I just watched a 1 and a half hour show about modern day pirates, it was pretty interesting.

Ok Belize is not an island. It is in central america as we know it here, but there they believe that they are part of south america, since only we as americans think of the americas as 3 continents not 2. It has one side bordering the ocean, the other parts are attached to guatemala and mexico. It has islands off of the mainland. At one point in time, guatemala controlled belize, but belize broke away from guatemala because it was an english colony at one point, and it has school systems and is a better off country than guatemala, so belize spilt from guatemala. There might be lacrosse there if there are other canadian / american kids there.

Bring your fishing rod. You will have some of the best untapped fishing in the world. As far as lax - we hope to have you back in the states for college.

Don't know if someone answered this but I know the official language is English. Or I am pretty positive. But I bet a lot of people speak Spanish nevertheless.

My sister went there on a trip 2 years ago and loved it, however thats beside the point. You realize your moving from Canada to a much smaller and poorer country. School will be very different etc. It's a big culture shock. If I found out I was moving to a place like that I'd have a bit more of a reaction. Are you excited or dissapointed at all?

you'll be fine, they recongize the Queen. so it's all good.

Belize.......That's pretty, uh, random. But it is very poor, and small, so you're gonna have to get used to less technology. Maybe some Spanish would be good. Are you going to be able to stay on TLF?

Maybe Flava Flave will stay at your resort. Other than that doesnt sound very good.

It seems like you dont care that much that you're moving, or you're just not showing much reaction..or you're so narrowheaded that you think every place in the world is like where you live right now... I think/hope its the second.

I remember doing a presentation in 6th grade about Jaguars, and i think Belize has the largest population of jaguars. A part of Belize is rain forest i think, and like Brazil they are cutting it down very fast, so therefore they're economy is probably mainly agriculture and growing cash crop to sell to America.

Or maybe he doesn't spill his emotions out on an internet forum???

That should rock... I would love to live in a tropical place. Costa Rica was amazing, and it's in the same area of the world, so hopefully you should experience some good things there. While you probably won't be living the same life as the indigenous people, try to learn something about their culture. Then hopefully you'll gain an appreciation and understanding of the native culture.

well first off im kind of glad im moving because its -30 degrees here and i've never been out of Canada. Although i know im going to go there and not see any of my friends for a very long time, or ever. But i'll probly come back here for a bit to visit. I'll try to get on TLF as much as i can. As for moving, i dont know when we are or if its even final yet, but its most likely.

Wow man I feel so bad for you. You get to go to a place where the weather is nice year round, and above all things you get to live on a resort, you poor poor kid.

Seriously its kind of rough moving from one country to another, but think about all the good times your gonna have down there. I mean probably everyone that owns a hotel down there has a family and is English and is most likely rich, so there is the possibility of gettin with a rich English hotel heiress. Nice.

My brother spent a week there. It's really nice and the people are pretty cool in the rural areas. In the city (Belieze City) it's kind of sketch, but it's mainly because it's a poor country. Tourism is really picking up though since cruise ships are stopping there more and more. The Beliezian dollar is pegged at a 2 for 1 ratio to US. I didnt see any evidence of lax besides the "Go Cocks Lax" I wrote on the wall of the Wet Lizard in Belize City. For those of you who are drinking age (or pretend to be) Beliken beer is pretty great. Snorkeling and scuba diving would also be worth picking up. I just got back from a cruise and went snorkeling off of Key Caulker and it was a great experience. I don't think I'd want to live there since I've gotten used to the american way of life (convienences, etc) but you could do a lot worse....such as moving to a place where you don't even know the language....

Don't give up on lax
you could be a true pioneer of the sport
and then, when belize wins the world championship in 2014 they'll be like "we owe it all to Mr. AttackSniper#12"
and have fun
