It would make you a lot stronger. And yes it would because it would be so much heavier.

I'd rather just lift weights, using a sand-filled shaft can throw off your technique and everything. It's all personal preference, though.

It would for sure change the release point on the stick. So doing it for a short period during the off-season couldnt hurt too much. Just make sure you used to your normal stick for the season.
