I ws wondering which is better to send to coaches... a letter or an email? and wat if you send a coach an email and dont hear back in say 3 weeks would it be ok to then send a typed letter? any other thoughts on anything relating to this?

It is better to send a coach a handwritten letter rather than an email.

I don't think it matters all that much. I sent out emails and a good bunch of the coaches responded, however do not expect them all to respond because that's simply not going to happen. Also, familiarize yourself with the recruiting rules, coaches may not be able to even talk to you at this point. Don't forget most teams have started practicing, so coaches are quite busy.

i have a question what happens when a coach stops returning your emails should you send more or move on (maybe give him a call?)...

I went through that for a while with one coach I was talking to. Eventually, they began to respond again. Keep sending the emails, it's not worth giving up. Keep putting yourself out there.

Send both! Each coach has their own perference, so cover it all. Some like a hard copy because they can file it and it is more official, but others like the convenience of email. Writing too much doesn't hurt, it only helps.

if i were a coach i think i would like having a letter because an email you could do when you are on the internet and talking to people but if you were to write a letter it means that you sat down and took time out of what you were doing.

Exactly. Just add a post sig stating youve also mailed out a hard copy for filing purposes and/or convenience and youll have both bases covered.

swish nailed it on the head. It takes 10 times as much effort to sit down and write a neat, legible letter to someone than it does to type out a nice email.
