I was just wondering if anybody here has ever used a stick with that Control X stuff on it. Is it any good? I think it looks ugly.

I see. How about the durability of it? Does it wear off?

They're little rubber "fingers", they can't really wear off... I've never seen any break, they seem to be very durable.

I've seen them be ripped out maybe once or twice, but those were instances where the person pounded them when the stick was upside down over and over again until they finally came out. They work better in the Prophecy b/c they're looser and the head is wider than the Edge-x, but the Prophecy is a terrible stick without the Control-x. It's basically a beginner's stick with advanced technology. The Edge-x was supposed to be a better stick with that technology in it, but it's too pinched for the Control-x to work in the same way that it does in the Prophecy. Brine just can't get it right.

Thanks. I think the Control X is dumb, why can't you just play lax without the stuff?

yeah, God forbid brine makes two heads that aren't exactly the same.

Not even close to the point I was making. What I mean is that the Control-x does not function to its full potential in either stick - in the Edge-x b/c the Control-x is too stiff and the head is too pinched, and in the Prophecy b/c the head itself is so poorly designed. It is a good technology, but only when it is in the proper stick. The point is that neither the Prophecy nor the Edge-x were the right stick for the technology.

enlighten me on what this proper stick is. it just seems like you have an opinion and are trying to make a fact. but the fact is, control x is a great technology, but i guess some people just can't use it.

not according to your own review. here's the closer for you, buddy. http://laxnation.com/home/displayarticle.php?category=reviews&title=prophecyreview&articleid=60. i bring attention to paragraphs 9, 10, 11. namely the sentence, "[I]t is actually a very well designed head" in paragraph 9.

I still like the scoop and degree of offset, but those are common to almost all Brine heads, beginners or advanced. It is very flexible, a lot like the Proton, but it doesn't break. That's still true. The only sentence with which I am disagreeing now is the first one. I would now say that the design is more typical of a beginner's head, and does not live up to the status of an advanced stick as the price and marketing of the Prophecy would indicate. My opinion changed on that; I wrote the review more than a year ago. My bad for not recognizing that in my first review... Chill out.

you should probably edit that review then, huh?

Nah. Thanks for your input though. Much appreciated.

the control x fingers are the same concept of the STX liquid, a
"partially floating" sidewall. If you get a chance to look at a prophecy/edge x and a liquid you'll know what i mean

the control x works real nice
if the prophecy was 10 times stiffer then it would have been the perfect head, but brines mad stupid

Ah, the ever enlightening controlled arguements between former writer and former employer. Oh, the fun of this board. Keep it clean! And the control-x would be dag rockin' on a cyber.

I think the Control-X would make the Cyber heavier. One of the main features of the Cyber (I have one) is its lightness. To this day, I think the only head lighter than a Cyber is the Torque, and only by .2 ounces.

Nope, they both weigh in right about 130 grams, actually. Maybe Brine fooled around with their Cybers and lightened them by 5 grams or something. I have used Cybers for 3 years, and have finally switched to an X2 for d. And the control-x would make the Cyber heavier, and I probably wouldn't buy it, but it would be effective on the Cyber either way.
