Several questions on the forum have emerged regarding what mechanics should be adopted from the college game to the high-school game.

Right now there are no mechanics directives from the NFHS; there is no mechanics guidebook. By default most of us use the US Lacrosse 2-man mechanics manual. That usually gets updated or tweaked once in the winter before the spring season. I would bet LaxRef would know when that is going to happen.

In my state we have a joint officials-coaches meeting prior to the start of the season. At that time I am going to ask them if they would like to have more stick/equipment checks during the game. Since the rules state we can have more than one per half...if they want more...we can accommodate them.
I'd be very reluctant to start conducting six sticks checks in a hs game without the a) the NFHS Rules Committee stating we should or b) the area coaches asking for it or c) the USL 2-man mewchanics stating we should.

There will be a new US Lacrosse mechanics manual this year, covering all levels of play. In the short term, we may have to make recommendations via the MDOC newsletter, which you should start receiving in the next week or two.

eme, I would agree with you. It's nice to know that the rulebook doesn't preclude it. But as you said, it's not something I would put in place without direction from elsewhere.

Until US Lacrosse comes out with their mechanics booklet John Hill/ZLAX has mechanics manuals available online at http://www.zlax.net/

Texas high schools play by NCAA rules with some exceptions, mostly having to do with relaxed field and uniform requirements. Unfortunately, we have received word that they will adopt the 6 stick checks...at least for now.

I'd recommend 4 for the shorter HS game.
