Legal assuming it meets the required length, there is no minimum circumference, only a maximum.

I belive its legal. There was a thread a while back discussing it. What would be the benefits?

Why should we take your word for it when experienced officials have already addressed the question?

Because the poster was actually using this thread to practice alternative ways to spell 'illegal'?

how do you make it fit in the mens throat?

They make adaptors to allow them to fit.

I actually use an STX women's shaft (the Radix, I believe). Its a 7000 series triax shape. Its held up fine so far, was cheap, and is my favorite shaft shape. Its also one of the STX women's shafts that is regular 1 inch men's diameter.
In terms of the throat thing, most women's heads have the 1 inch opening for a men's shaft (jeez, can I write that here?), so therefore come with the aforementioned adapter to fit the thinner women's diameter shaft

As a women's coach I have to ask why on earth would you ever want to use a women's shaft? The smaller diameter women's shafts dent like crazy in the women's game...with softer checking rules and players that aren't as strong as men. I can only imagine you'd get 1 or 2 games out of a women's diameter shaft in a normal men's game. Now if you're playing at a lower level or a younger level...it might last longer, but not by much.

If you're considering using a men's diamter women's shaft, like many of the harrows or debeer shafts...the same argument holds. Those shafts, while the same diameter, are not made with the same amount of materials and such because they don't need to be as strong as men's shafts...so again you won't get many games of out them, especially if you play against a check happy defense.

Actually, Harrows makes shafts that fit both. They had one that was tapered at one end and could be reversed at. Most women's shafts will fit guys' heads and are fairly durable. I spent 3 years as a women's head coach (D III) and we interchanged shafts based on personal preferences. Also spent 10 years as men's DI asst, DIII head, and MDIA head coach. Never saw anybody looking at women's gear...other than undergarments :wow: . I do have a Harrow's women's shaft on one of my heads and like it. Granted I never used it in a game...it clashes with my nail polish :jawdrop:

I saw this a bit in youth ball last year. Kids were using the Harrow shaft with the taper. I have not seen it HS though. I asked one of the kids why he was using it...well he got a little embarassed and walked away.
