it says your job is to know what the consumers want, it is highly doubtful that people are going to be talking about what they want from their jerseys

I am not saying they have bought out STX i'm just saying, Nike is most definetly coming into the Lacrosse Business, possibly on their own terms.

That'd be a pretty nice job. I'm sure Nike gives (maybe not exactly 6 figures, but...) ample wages to their employees. It's too bad I'm still in high school.

I wish I had that job! I would just have to read threads on here and I would be fine.

i think alot of companies are going into lax because they know its going to be big, and they will make alot of money from it.

i dont know much about the selling of stx, but i heard they were going to start more of a partnership...it may have evolved that nike now has more shares of the company than stx, and tehy can do a corporate takeover.

i think well see stx flourish from it, but the stx brand wont be touched. i think nike will be adding on to the stx line, with spandex wear, shoes, maybe a helmet, who knows...but if nike knows what their doin, i dont think theyll touch the sticks and gloves and most likely padding for awhile.

Of course they better add the sweet swoosh sign to their pads..

Small companies like Gait and Harrow get put out of business because Nike can afford to lower their prices. And companies that are just starting out like Maverick and Serpent will be crushed into the ground before they have a chance to take off. Then all you'll have is Warrior/Brine and STX competing.

Let's hope this turns out well, however, let me point out they went in alone for hockey, messed it up, teamed with bauer and now makes some great products because nike has all that money to research and produce, so most likely if they do make sticks and such it will be a joint like nike+stx or whatever company they will go at it with.

im not really looking forward to nike making lacrosse products. Maybe cleats and such will be alright, but nike making sticks will be a disaster. Nike is infamous for making cheap products that wear and tear easily.

Well maybe cheaper products are what the sport needs to grow.

Maybe I'm being an idiot here (probably am), but I don't see ANYTHING that says STX on that webpage. In fact, the lacrosse marketing job was in NEW YORK. STX is in MARYLAND.

I would just like to state that I did not state that this meant Nike had made an acquisition of STX, that is just speculation, commenced by other users.

If Nike did buy STX (I'm not counting on it), they should call it STikX (STX+ik from Nike).

I hope Nike enters the lacrosse world just because it would be a big breakthrough for the sport. What I don't want to see is all the awesome little companies get crushed and go out of buisness (mainly gait, because I think most of their stuff is really high quality)

In my opinion, Nike or Adidas needs to somehow get involved in the game of lacrosse. I live in Oregon, Nike HQ. Any sport nike adopts, blasts off. I don't know about those of you in the eastern US, but here in the NW, we aren't a tier-1 sport. If nike jumped on the bandwagon, many schools would be likely to start lacrosse programs. In the stater of Oregon there are 45 or so teams. We have as many or more lacrosse players than baseball players at my school, yet lacrosse isn't even being looked at as a tier 1 sport.

IMO, nike joining in will show the seriousness of the sport to athletic directors. It will go on TV, have commercials, and etc.

Lacrosse needs to be publicized. A big company is how we do it. On the quality side of things, I would be rather worried. Hopefully they would stick to apparel, and eventually work their way into sticks. Even then, i would not want them to be designing shafts and heads.

In the end, what will happen, will happen.

To me it seems inevitable that Nike is entering the lacrosse market in the near future. They're already making jerseys and shirts, and with the lacrosse specific Huarache's coming I would think that they would want to expand farther into the lacrosse market. My guess would be that the jerseys were their way or testing the water before investing more into lacrosse. I would't be surprised to see Nike come out with a more extensive lacrosse line and probably a partner this year or in the next couple of years.

I'm crossing my fingers, it would be great for the game of lacrosse.

I agree with you that, I wouldnt ever want to use a nike stick, but thankfully there are still other companies to choose from. They can go right ahead and make them if they like.

besides a head with a swoosh sidewall design or shaft that had a swoosh on it would make you look like a giant tool

Adidas now owns Reebok(Rbk) so they are already getting into lax that way. i guess they'll continue to use the Rbk brand because of its association with hockey and NLL lax
