theres this guy on my team that just runs right down through the defense to the goal, even though it works a lot in practice i get the feeling he is gonna get absolutely decked sometime in a game, so is there anything that i can say to him that might convince him to stop (other than like teamwork or something corny cause this guy thinks he is a hardarse), or is he just gonna have to learn the hard way?

no, but supposively he had played long pole D before which i don't think he coulda been any good cause hes really not very big..but an update- he took a pretty good shot today in practice that sent him to the ground(doing what i told you he does) but he didn't drop the ball

If it works don't stop him. If he gets decked in a game, then so what, this is lacrosse, it happens. If the only reason you want him to stop really is that you don't want him to get decked in a game, you really should stop worrying about it. My friend sucked at wrestling, I never told him not to do it though, I just worried about what I was doing.

cant really tell if its workin in a game or practice
if its hurting your team in a game, make him stop

deffinately let him learn the hard way. or, tell oneo fyour defenders in practice what he is going to do and have him lay him out. that'll teach him.

yea I agree. If hes a ball hog, then coach is gonna see it and not put him in a game like situation- and if he does then youll find out if its skill, or if its just that he your d-men are to soft on their own players. I know that last year a senior on our team was tough on anyone, and gave out two concussions... in practice. (luckely he graduated and is now playing d-line at a montclair)

Webb will teach him to stop...lol. We have someone like that on our team too, and he still wont learn after about 2 years. It is prety frustrating.

If hes doing that and its working a lot your defense isn't doing its job. If I was your coach I'd let him do it until defense learns to step up and he finally knows his place. I'd also be all over defense until they get it right.

actually the same thing happened on my team a couple years ago when i was in 8th grade and I remember we were all really mad at him cause he didnt really play like everyone else wanted to...rather than passing it around he just ran it in and scored...the thing that we all realized later tho was that this kid was the best on our team, scored almost every time we ran it in, and without him we basically had no chance of winning a game(he scored probly half our goals...he was sick and missed one game and we just couldn't score)
