Aite i am a defensemen and i hate getting hit with the ball. I get it about 5-10 times a season and it just freaks me out sort of (ie: some one is gonan crank it from the restrainng line im running to him then i just move outta the way). How would i get over this "fear" u can call it.

Play goalie for a week...you'll learn how to take those shots...
I have no regard for my body and step in front of shots while playin d...most will deflect off you but those few that hit solidly do hurt...but you are a lax player...you can take it

go to the wall and run into it:lol you get use to ti just dont get scared
I love stopping a ball with my body. I save two at camp, one with my helmet and one with my shoe. When I save something, as long as I'm wearing a cup, I'm psyched. Think of yourself as goalie #2.

wear a cup and decent pads and just dont think about it. its going to happen and there really isnt much you can do about it except play a different position. as a former goalie the one thing i do is follow the shot with my hands and usually the shot hits my gloves rather than my body.
you will get used to it, of course that doesnt make it hurt any less :)

Yea I play backup goalie so it isn't that bad but i just get pissed when I get hit with the ball when I'm playing out. We were doing a warm up drill before a game and a kid took a shot and completely missed the net and hit me while I was covoring a diff kid and it hit me right on the wrist. I just start swearing until it doesn't really hurt anymore, but thas just me.

i get hit at least 2 times (most times 3) every time im on the field.. whether it be practice or not
if you have a problem letting it go, this is a good approach.. you may get some odd looks, but it works
what i do is as soon as i get hit, i think about gettin the gb and going for a breakaway. im too preoccupied thinking to worry about the shot

No, see it's not what happens after he gets hit that he cares about. It's when he's running up to someone and he absolutely knows they're gonna crank it and nail him when he gets scared. It's natural, and I don't have any great advice for it other than to try and put yourself into a position that will make it happen and just to get used to it after like 2 or 3 times.
Also, does anyone else block more shots with their stick rather than their body? Or is it just me and my video-game hand-eye coordination?

i dont try and stop them with my stick, i'm more likely to miss and if it doesnt hit my body then, ive effectively screened the goalie and he will have a much harder time making the save. that's why i try to use my gloves nice combo of padding and body backup

ooo i save a couple off my stick............accidentaly
I love the leg shots, when I think it's gonna nail my cup. Leaves a sick bruise, and I love it.

Take the pain and take it out on an attackmen the next time the ball is down your end! Someone has to pay, it might as well be a middie or attackman!:angel :agree

if ur sliding to the ball and you can tell hes about to take a shot, charge him and yell. dont think about the coming certain pain of a direct hit to the gut. if ur scary enough, he'll take a bad shot and miss or pull back and not shoot or u get hit in the rib, any way its not a goal so who cares?
playing d, if be hit in the foot, ankle, calf, thigh, cup(i think he did it on purpose), stomach, rib, arm, helmet, and ive even blocked them with my stick on accident

It would be kinda sad if your charging at him yelling and he nails u with a shot and u just drop like a stack of bricks tho.
