What are some stretches/exercises that I can do to get my whole body more flexible? How long should I hold them?

Yoga, for sure. Try some easy poses and get started. Just google "yoga positions", you'll find tons of useful stuff.

A lot of people overlook stretching AFTER, but it's just as important as stretching before. Your muscles tighten up during workouts, and not stretching after will make the next day's stretch that much harder...

Exactly, I always have to stretch my legs after games and such or I stiffen up like a board.

Yea, i always feel bad after not stretching after games and i never knew why for a while. I guess its something about the muscles "cooling down" if you will.

Yoga or pilates. Pilates was invented by a guy, believe it or not, I took it for credit my 2nd quarter, hahaha. You'll become pretty flexible and REALLY strengthen your stomach in the process.

it has to do with some liquid that runs through ur muscles while they are exercising, and stretching gets it out of them

that liquid you are talking about would be lactic acid when lactic acid builds up in your muscles from strenuous activities you muscles contract too much acid gives you mad cramps and thats why you should stretch after workouts to steadily relieve the acid in your muscles
