This game is on Versus.
I'll go Philadelphia. The have Roik back and he's 2-0. I'm guessing the Rock will start the season the same way they did last year, 0-4.

Bet the Rock start the year 0-7. Clarke will be fired after next week after they lose both their games vs. the Bandits.
For the above posters:
The game was shown live at 7:30 EST in Ontario on Sportsnet Ontario and in Canada on Sportsnet High Definition, however for all the American's, the game was shown at 10:00 EST on VS.

In past years yes, but Clark was hand picked by the rock head honchos, so this is as much a failure of their horrible decision making as Clark's inabaility to coach at this level, or maybe any level, considering I don't think the man had ever coached prior to this 0-3 start. The Rock front office has more egos in it than any locker room, so firing Clarck would be a big blow to them since it was they who for whatever reason gave him the role. And then if they do fire him, who the hell do they give the job to? No one wants it, let alone there not being anyone really available for it. With all their assinine firings and trades, they've set themselves up as a franchise not many would like to coach for. My guess, next year Veltman is coaching, hell maybe even this year if his injuries keep piling up.

Ummmm......no it wasn't, unless you mistook bullriding for lacrosse, eiter way, just as a courtesy next time, write it in white and just say "Highlight here for result: Wings win " so that way people that like to discuss the game, but don't get to see untill 10 or 11, still can, with out it being spoiled.

Hate to break it to you, but if you like surprises and you're going to watch NLL on tape delay, it's probably a good idea to stay away from forums, the league website, and even other telecasts
(Apparently Rochester's homer announcer leaked the final score during the NY @ Rochester telecast on SNY.....way to go, ensure no one watching that game is going to bother with the one on VS)

Are you frigging kidding me? He's actually way better than he was last year.
So far, he's held an ill-prepared Rock team in three games that could have been absolute blowouts. Each one of those games, the Rock actually had a chance to win. Two losses were failure of the offense, and one was failure of the defense.
Two games were 10 goal performances. In this league, that ain't not bad.
The only reason Watson's GAA is north of 10 is that he was hung out to dry in game 2. His defense decided to take 34 odd minutes in penalties to give up 13 powerplays against Rochester without figuring out how they were going to kill them. Even that game was close enough to win until the fourth period meltdown.
Nay, there are a lot of things wrong, but so far this year, Watson ain't one of them.

Agreed. I've never even been the biggest Watson fan, but he has been impressive for most of the year. No help but he continues keeping these slugs in games. Without him, the Rock would be, well, they'd still be 0-3, but their goal differential would be a lot worse.

^^Rock problem checklist:
Less than stellar defense, agreed that it was adequate in two games, but was a total stinker in one. Transition game that's stuck in neutral (or maybe park). Struggling offense, Doyle's gone, Sanderson's game is hurt without his favourite target, Sanderson and everyone else are being pounded and haven't dealt with it well. The FOGO they hired was owned in the F/O circle the one week he actually got playing time. They have been outballed for loosies in both zones. They have taken lots of penalties without a clue how they were going to kill them. The coach dressed the goon instead of the FOGO and then didn't even let the goon stay out long enough to actually cause some real havoc and maybe get a fight started.
Rock bright spot checklist:
Watson save percentage to date - 0.772 . Tough to complain about goaltending woes, especially when he's holding this percentage against that many shots and lots of powerplays.
Benesch found ways to slip through the seams, get to the net and score in games two and three. This kid will be productive in this league. Hell, if they give he and Sanderson a power-forward to free up space and take most of the lumps, this offense could light some lamps (Maybe they should trade for Doyle ). Seriously, maybe move Laddy, Thompson or one of the other lefty d-men up front once every few shifts to pound back at the opposing defense.
Anyway, Watson was the origninal topic, so I'll close with this - For at least another year or two, Watson's probably part of the solution, not the problem. No matter what about Watson though, I liked the way Poulin looked in the one pre-season games and hope he gets a start or two this season. Any back-to-backs coming after this weekend with Buffalo?

I think that if Veltman can come back he could add just enough leadership to get the rock going... the rock have had close games (even if it was only due to watson) if they can just work a few kinks out they'll be able to produce a few wins.. and after that who knows maybe even make a playoff spot? This rock team definately has talent they just dont have the team this year. Both Fines and Benesh do look pretty good at times on the floor but you can still see the mistakes they make, but thats ok. The Rock just seems like they need to develop a few of their players a little more and mature as a team. However this year turns out for the Rock, I think by next year they should be a far better team; as long as a downward spiral of events doesnt occur then they'll be fine.

Not to just say the opposite of what you're saying, but really, outside of the Wings game, they lost to Rochester back to back by a combined eight goals!!! To me, that's not close. There were times they could have kept it close, but couldn't, and that's the main difference from this year's team to past years. When crunch time comes, they have few players that can either dig them out or surge them ahead. Like I said in another thread, they are relying on too few players to do too much dirty work, and are taping out way earlier than in past years. Whatever way you dice it, what left the Rock organization this year has not even come close to being replaced. I think accountants call it an unbalanced work sheet, and this one's reading a major deficeit.

well i just think at this point in the season its too early to tell how the rock will really do as a team. Yeah i agree that this team is kindof like an unbalanced work sheet, BUT lets let the payroll decide that at the end of the season. Time can only tell!!!!!!!!!!
