So, i'm looking to sign up early for a bunch of goalie camps this summer and fall and I was wondering what you guys reccomend? I;ve signed up for the Bill Pilat December Camp in FL and want to know what people that have already gone think about it. And, what other camps did you get alot out of?

I was thinking of going to the Bill Pilat camp also.. I live in GA.. How the hell do you do it in December without missing school?- Because I really want to go to a camp before spring season starts!

I went to Pilat's in the summer. I was disapointed with like the lack reps since there was like 140 goalies there, but overall it was pretty good.

I went to Bill's camp in Roanoke this summer. I liked it, because of the tapes that they took of you at the beginning of the camp, then at the end. You can really tell that you got better, and have better form. This place is fun too. You get to play real games except it's all goalies which is cool. I defanitely got my moneys worth too, because it's 3 sessions a day. One after Breakfast, one in the afternoon, and one before dinner. Pilat told me that the facility and fields in FL were a lot nicer than Roanoke's, and will probably be cooler down there in the winter than in Virginia in the summer. This place is great, and really made me better.

iv heard that pilats is a good camp, i went to the true north camp run by Chris Sanderson, Kyle Miller, and the UVA goalie coach. i have to say it was pretty good, they really work on your form but there arent any videos they give you or anything. it was also really fun. the one downside was that their "hired guns" were high school kids from surrounding towns like hopewell NJ and other places like that so the shots werent particularly fast. i really liked the way they ran the camp though, it taugh me a lot, and they also had this sports pschycologist guy come in every night which was pretty interesting, and they had a guest speaker about getting recruited and stuff. it really prepares you.

i went there for the first session..i learned alot from the tapes, but some other things that you do are the rapid fire(very fun) goalie games, and they work on technique for specific areas..and we got to see a few college goalies play, like mike kruger(fairfield)-he's sick

rapid fire is just where they shoot tennis balls at you from 5 yards or so,,the balls aren't shot fast, but they're shot quickly one after another

Pilat's winter is about 700 times better than summer. I have been to the Roanoke and the Florida camps....the summer ones are MUCH more crowded. There are waay less people there in the winter camps, and it is right before your season so all of the info and practice stays fresh. Even though your in Fl, bring some sweatpants..gets chilly during the night sessions....

Good point more instruction in the winters I thought about that. And yes, i'll be wearing my traditional goalie gray champion cotton pants!

ya, all the goalies were together and learned the same stuff, but obviously if the kid was younger the shots were slower, but they didnt dumb it down for the younger kids

Yo have liek 2 5-minute sessions of you being shot on and you watch it with a coach afterwards. At the FL site, the yhave the pitching machine whic hshoots balls like 100mph, which the ydidn't have at Roanoke. And since there is less people I here, you can try to get 1 on 1 shooting with Pilot which is really nice.

i've been thinking about going to Peak for my senior year. to get my name out there and talk to some coaches.

i went to the Umass Amherst twice. and got coached by jake Coon. who coaches Doc Sheider. pretty sweet man.

this past summer i went, and sean morris and jack reid was there. and they do optional night sessions so i went to teh shooting demo with sean morris just to watch. i asked him if i could stand in on his shots. and he said sure. made 2 saves on 15 shots.

not bad i'd say against the number one draft pick in the country =)

I was so mad that Doc wasen't there this summer after being to championship game i really wante his insight on it. but oh well. me and jack reid had a nice convorsation about it over some pizza in the lobby.

Morris was about 3 yards in from the restriing line. honestly. the two saves i never even saw the ball. after taking shots from him. i'm not afraid to face anyone =)

ive been to peak goalie camp and to pilots goalie school

the key is to be a jerk, esp at pilots goalie school.
he runs it with stations with certain times per station, so by being a jerk i mean, always be the 1st to get in the cage dont be nice and let someone else go. cause 1st guy getting shot on the shooter doesnt realize how much time has passed and you will see more shots, if u got like 3rd then they realize "oh we only have 5 min left" and take less shots so they get everyone in.

Peak Performance Goalie camp in Springfield Mass. is a good one. There is one in June and one in July. College coaches and players work with you and shoot on you. You get taped durig a session and then analyzed and you get to keep the tape and notes. Its a really good camp

I went to Pilot's Roanoke camp a few years ago. It was good but they screw'd up my tape so I didn't get much out of that. It's a great camp to learn to stop the ball, but you have to learn what to do after that. It'd be sweet if he mixed his defensive camp and goalie camp together for a full-d experience. I'd say you should also get to some full-team camps after a goalie camp to work on your out of the cage game and all that, because you don't always have some guy just stand there and shoot on you with nobody around.

Viator, where do you live? I know of a pretty good camp in Gettysburg, PA I think it's called like all-star or top-star or something, and it's a serious recruiting camp, but get your stuff in soon, because it fills up FAST. (i never got to go there, but i know some kids who have) and you'll get to talk to coaches and they'll get to see you play with some other serious players.

for exposure i've heard numerous times to go to the blue chip or top 205 camps. the problem is though that you have to be invited by a division 1 coach. I know this goalie who's going to georgetown and he was noticed at the princeton camp. so i think the best way to be noticed is to stick out at a college camp like Princeton, Johns hopkins, cornell, etc.

I got back from the Millon camp. Mark Millon was kinda of a _______ (<-- insert negative word here), he left the camp half through. Kyle Dixon wasn't even that cool either, he didn't even shoot in the fast shot competition then somebody stole his stick. It's not a great camp for goalies.

To let them string a head it is 30 bucks and its against the rules for a conseler to string for free/camper to string a stick for cash.

The raffle for the heads/shafts wasn't great since there were 200 kids and only 5 shafts and 6 or 7 heads with a bunch of t's and hats. The stiffi was won by a 11 year old. Kyle Dixon also stole a bunch of the clothing too....

Bill pilats brother was my coach for about 4 years so he recommended me to Bill Pilats camp. The first year i went i was with my brother at Roanoke and it really helped me a lot. the coaches spend time and work on your technique personally and you can ask them any questions. The second year i went by myself to Roanoke and it still helped me a whole lot. This past summer i went to Pilats camp at the Storm King School in New York. I found that it didnt really help me as much because it was the same exact drills as the years before, but it was still a really good way to get shots over the summer from college players and just some extra tips too. Both locations are great but it might be a good idea to to a different camp every year or something like that.

Trilogy has some really good goaltending instruction. Not necessarily for the most experienced goalies out there, but really helpful for beginners & intermediates with a few years of experience. Really good focus on the mechanics of saves & the field players at the Trilogy camps become REALLY good shooters over the course of the week.

I hated the goalie school theres way to many others to get the attention you should get and plus you either play the way they want you to or they make you. Go to a normal camp where you will have people at your age shooting on you and where there are limited goalies over the summer I went to a camp a syracuse there was such a lack of goalies i got to play twice as many games

i strongly suggest not goin to pilat's goalie school. first of all their all dick heads who think there tough ****. second, half of em dont know what there talkin about. and third its hard as **** to do well at the camp. they all have a set way of how everyone in the world needs to play goalie (how to save each shot, how to warm up, how to clear, when to run) they have everything in one set way and they think all other ways are wrong. end of story, no questions asked. i almost got kicked out of the camp for refusing to go over on an off hip save and that summer i was all messed up b.c they got it in my head that thier way was right.
if your looking for a sick camp i reccommend Brian Dougherty's camp (pinnacle) its based on tweaking your game how you like to play and making you better at it. you'll face thousands of shots over a 1 week period and it really helps

Has anyone been to Catranno's camp? "One to One Goalie Academy at NYIT held in March and April. Price wise I heard it is worth it, $375 for 5 Sundays. Each lesson on Sunday's are 3 hrs in length!

Well, my brother went to this camp and here is a family review, considering I tagged along with my brother and father who paid for the camp... IT STUNK!!
Don't waste your $$. 1st whole hr. is spent on stretching, that I can do anywhere? No instruction at all, just shagging balls back and forth which could be done on the wall. Don't bother with this clinic/academy, whatever they want to call it. Am I a little harsh, yeh, I guess so but so is $375!

I was wondering this as well. I'm looking for a good goalie camp to improve, since I'm playing varsity, and my coach gave me a brochure to this one.

I went to Bill Pilat's regular camp last summer and it really helped me, and this year I am going to the goalie school and i was just wondering if anyone else is going to it, July 5th in Roanoke, VA.

I'm leaving within the next couple days to go to the girls lacrosse camp at notre dame, has anyone been there or have any info on how this camp compares to others? I'm a new goalie and this will be the first camp that i'll be going to.
