do you just put your hands together and push through someones ribs? or do you use your shoulder like in football? i've done both but i've had better experiences with using my shoulder, though i don't get a lot of chances

I like hip checks when possible.
But its often good to Hit him with your hands together, Right below his shoulder pads and push upward and past him..

Kinda, but not really.
You have your arms lowered, than you explode your arms towards his lower chest, where his shoulder pads end, pushign your arms upward [your gloves are still facing up, palms down, or one palm down]. Kinda of like a straight forward punch, that moves up. But not an uppercut, haha, Hard to explain.

There ya go. It's also better if you start lower than him, so you can use your legs to add force.
BTW, I think your title is pretty sweet. "Correct way to YARDSALE someone" would have been sweet too.

yeah, but it's probably just as cool as leveling someone in most cases.

Best way is to keep running through, when you go for the check don't stop running put all your force and momentum into his body, preferbley using the side of shoulder. slowing down and trying to push him when stationary will only work with smaller kids or if he is off balanced.

Lead with the stick, follow with the body.

And get a penalty for Cross checking, IBC, or USC. Take your pick. :thinking:

IBC=Illegal Body Check
USC= Unsportsmanlike Conduct

Best way to level is the shoulder IMO. Unfortunately, 90 percent of the time outside of crappy HS ball you'll never get the chance. Once you drop the shoulder (unless he absolutely doesn't see you coming) he'll sidestep you and probably score on your rear end. Don't focus on leveling, it feels cool the 1 time out of 99 you pull it off, but that doesn't win games.

I use my hip and shoulder so I can throw all 150lbs of myself into the guy

The hit i was thinking is legal. (just the words i use make it sound illegal). Lower the Shoulder and push upward with the side of the shoulder.

Then you must play pretty crappy teams. Any decent player will side-step someone who doesn't look at them while hitting.

i personally find yard sales more amusing, but leveling someone to be more of an adrenaline rush
i always thought that if you lower your shoulder that you would get some sort of penalty. Any way, i go for the hip because that is the center of gravity for the body, and if that goes, then the hole body goes.

start low and use your legs to launch yourself into someone. Of course when you are 5'7, 140 and quick it doesn't work too well but whatever haha. it is always fun to bounce off of those 200 pound defenders.

all of my biggest hits are with my shoulder, but if im just pushing someone out then my hands are together and try to push them square in the chest.

i think he means when poke checking slide your hands up the shaft, lead with shoulder, hit with shoulder
but with leveling someone, lead with shoulder, act like there are three of him in a row, he is the first, try and level the third "imaginary guy" while leading with shoulder. AKA explode through him.

my coach tells us when we slide to lead with the stick then hit. i didn't understand him until i did it and it makes sense because what ends up happening is you either go for the poke check to the stick or ribs which everone is in the way, then just hit him with your shoulders. by doing this in these steps you have a better chance of stopping the player rather than just trying to rail him.

If you have the perfect opportunity, using your shoulder will deliver an awesome body check, but most of the time, that won't happen. I notice most of the time if I'm coming in for a hit, I will just try and get it so that my body stays on theirs, from the term body on body. I will either put my hands together and bring them in closer to my body, get on them and then push away with my hands, or I will just get any part of me I can in on them. Most of the time when you lower your shoulder, you will get burned, when you bring your whole body you should at least slow them up, which can break up a fast break or still allow some time for your D to slide.

catch them off guard like when an attackmen catches the ball at midfield turns around and you just sprint into them and theres a good chance theyll be on the bench for a couple minutes
