I'm trying to build consistent playing, some days are fantastic, others are horrible. Is this something that just comes with playing experience? Could it be related to coaching methods? anyone with experience in developing skills in a consistent manner

It's not your coaches. It's in your head. Mental limitations are put upon you by yourself. If you think it is your skills, then work on the things you perceive to be weaknesses. Being consistent in lacrosse has a lot to do with repetition, muscle memory and focus. Focus is the mental part of the game that effects every player. Try to remember that every player has "bad days", but if you are as inconsistent as you claim to be, you can bet that it is due to some sort of a lack of focus. Try to clear your mind before you play. Had a bad day in school? Push it to the back of your mind. GF troubles? Keep it outside of your helmet. Trust me, you'll do much better if you play the game on the field, and not within yourself.

ya know, a lot of it for me is an overload of other crap.. but most of the time i'm able to just push it back. a key problem could be a lack of physical stamina, so that your form suffers, and your consistancy in direct porportion.

the best way to combat this would be to simply lead a healthy lifestyle. take practice seriously, but don't beat yourself up. if you're a horrible shooter, work on that really hard for a day, than take a break, then go back ect.

great advice. I'm young on my team, 15 on varsity. I skipped JV so I really struggle some days. I've got the fastest shot on my team and good speed but doesn't matter if you don't catch the ball. hardly played at all last year so I thought maybe i'm missing out on some key concepts

i have the same problem i am inconsistent but now that i think about it the days i do bad i put it in my head that im doing bad...it all starts when you miss the first shot and your like aww man i suck today then it gets in your brain...

Personally i just figured out that i do way better when im mad lol i dont know how to explain it but everytime something pises me off and i take a shot its one of the best shots i take...

I am inconsistent around tryouts normally because I just got worried about what the coaches will think etc but just don't let that **** get into your head. Play YOUR game not somebody else's, at least that is what I have to do.

Same thing in a game I can't think about the crowd or the consequences but just play and then I do really well.
