What language to you take in school?

hey i was wondering what language you take in school. also feel free to post if you speak any languages fluently outside of school.

I take italian in school. Worst language ever, useless, not to mention both teachers I've had have been terrible and the one last year got fired before the year was even over. I think I might switch over to some other language this upcoming year. And I speak spanish fluently outside of school.

Seriously language is a waste, why would you want to learn a language that in the US no one speaks. Who would move to germany or italy? I can maybe understand spanish in the west coast, but on the east coast......

they are the best classes to mess around in. and french u can bs soo easy just by adding different accents and vowels to english words.

Be honest here, We need to take spanish, because Here in America its going to be just as largely used in the States as english in 10-ish years, With the everly increasing amount of Spanish people coming into the country not knowing english, Hopefully they pass the english only bill [All Gov. Type Documents in English], But Untill they do, If you plan on doing any type of Job that is going to be in America, I highly suggest spanish because you will need it.
However, the next best language to take would be Japanese if you plan on going into Electronics.

But I'm taking spanish throughout HighSchool and Most likely in College,

Spanish 2 right now, With an A as a Sophmore.

I took Spanish for 2 years in middle school and all 4 years of HS. Wish I could have actually became fluent in it. I also wish that they taught other languages way way earlier (like starting 1st grade). It is proven that you have the ability to learn and retain other languages easier starting younger. I would love to be able to speak another language.

French. Im in my fourth year but the class is french 3.. its weird here, it goes;

7th grade; french 1A
8th grade; french 1B
state exam which everybody must pass. once you pass it you dont need to take a language.
9th grade; french 2
10th grade; french 3
11th grade; french 4

thats assuming you dont fail any of the years. does anybody elses schools work like this? i think its the same in all of new york...

by the way, were fundraising for a trip to Martenique (sp?) next year, so donations are greatly accepted!!!! :clap:

I completly agree, thats why we are trying to pass the English only bill, but untill it does, We're going to need it.

Like my dad has recently gotton a new job, he's learned so much spanish in the past year, but then again, his company focuses on selling phone cards to call to other countries such as mexico, cuba, latin american countries.

nah i've only been taking spanish since 6th grade (im in 8th grade now)
at my school they only count that as like less than 1 year because they think you don't really learn anything. but im glad that i can actually speak in sentences

haha lol im happy im taking spanish though because like mentioned earlier, spanish speakers are taking over our country. not to be mean, but its the truth. i mean come on, they even made a staples "easy button" in spanish that says facil on it. so taking spanish will help out in the long run.

I'm taking German 4 now. I would have stopped at 2, but since the teacher is really laid back and doesn't like to participate in the whole grades thing, she gives everyone atleast a B. And its an IB level class so I get a free bump to my gpa.
