(Sorry if this is in the wrong section)Ok so I've never played lacrosse before (& coming from So Cal no one knows what lacrosse is, NO ONE at my school knows what lacrosse is) & I've been wanting to play lacrosse for a really long time, but I couldn't because there were no leagues that were anywhere near me, but recently a league started thats kinda close (its an hour away) so I want to join their team. But the thing is they have already started practice and I missed their camp and everything... I missed like a week of official practice. So should I still try and see if I can join their team with the little experience I have? Or my other option that I have is just wait until next season, learn everything I can about lacrosse, and then join... but I'm afraid I'll be too old. I'll be 17. So I don't know what to do! I'm currently on my schools tennis team and I used to be a gymnast (I have huge calves from the tumbling I did). If that helps at all. & I'm like super short, only 5'4" Thanks!

I'd say wait untill next season and get better in the meantime. If you were a gymnast you would probably be an insane attackman or middi, but you should first get catching, throwing, and cradling down.

it is only a week, if the coach doesn't mind I don't see any reason not to play

why wait? this is an excellent oppurtunity for him to get a feel for the game

well if he's never played before i think he should get a feel for the sport and get the basics down first. but thats just my opinion.

I'd join, the best way to get better, is to play.

start playing now, its not that hard to get started. you'll get it really fast but it does take some work.

I would suggest PLAYING over NOT playing. Honestly, why not? If they're just starting out too, a week won't make that big of a difference.

I agree, i just signed up and i was thinking like maybe i should do it next year but thats a whole year, and you'll really regret it. Why not just play both years, you'll get alot more practice, then just at home.

You don't really have enough time left in your career to skip a season. I would 100% play. What if next year you become injured and can't play? You'll wish you did this season, thats for sure.

I agree with that but its not due to time because I know there is leagues for 60+ year old men.

yeah but hes got college to worry about.

i say go for it. its a new league. so you'll be in the same boat as everyone else. but instead of just practicing during the teams practices, practice more when you get home. not everyday but when you feel up to it. just a little wall ball or some cradling/shooting

he probably wont be able to play in college if hes just starting out...

http://www.kudda.com/clinics this helped me

lax isnt a hard to learn sport i just picked it up less than a year ago and i have played in 2 leagues and done fine in them. once you have passing, shooting and cradling down the rest is up to athleticism(which it sounds like you have). its kinds like soccer.
