How is everyone's team looking so far...any predicitions for the upcoming season?
Pegasus
02-06-2007, 04:28 PM
We start up Monday.
My predictions are: NDA, NSA, Covenant, Highland, and Flint Hill in the top 5. Other than that, I think 6-8 are up for grabs by: Bishop Sullivan (or Catholic Sullivan, I don't know what it's called now), Wakefield, Benedictine and Christchurch. Tandem will closely follow.
Anyone know anything about Norfolk Collegiate? I've never heard anything about them, nor played them.
BSCHSgoalie13
02-06-2007, 04:57 PM
I think you will be surprised about NSA. They lost the core of their team to graduation and isnt nearly what they were last year.
Norfolk Collegiate will be very similar to last year. I dont think they lost many people but they werent very strong last year either.

should be a good year of lacrosse in virginia.
BSCHSgoalie13

I agree, it seems as though the teams battling for spots 4 and below are pretty evenly matched.
jfjlax
02-06-2007, 08:47 PM
it should definitely be a good year, and you had it right with 'bishop sullivan' i dont know why laxpower has it as 'catholic-sullivan'. right out of the gate there should be some good games that will likely clear things up with bishop sullivan playing christchurch and benedictine in the same week.
ndlaxin3
02-06-2007, 08:52 PM
how did sullivan finish in d2 last year?
BSCHSgoalie13
02-06-2007, 09:18 PM
we won some good games against benedictine and christ church but lost some games we should have won or to teams that we had previously beat. We lacked senior leadership graduating only 2. This year we have a lot of seniors that take it seriously so i am hoping we should have a much stronger year.

I'm hoping NSA isn't as strong this year, we play them at home this year.
How is everyone's schedule? Ours is great, a majority of our games are home. We have teams such as NSA, NDA, BSCHS, and Highland coming to our place this year so that'll be great, we don't have many long road trips.
BSCHSgoalie13
02-08-2007, 05:25 PM
We have a pretty bad schedule...we play like 4 games against club teams from local public high schools which are basically a waste of time. We only have 3 quality D2 games against NSA Benedictine and Christ Church. We play a few others like HRA and Norfolk Collegiate but we need more quality D2 games instead of the club games.

That really sucks, I feel for you man.
Anyone playing anyone from D1? We only play Collegiate. We usually play St. Christopher's, but because of certain bad events in the past few years, our headmasters decided to cancel the rest of our games together for the rest of the year. Our schedule consists mostly of D2 teams, and two club teams. Overall we have a great schedule, I think we might play everyone in D2. I can't wait for the season to start up, I'm so ready to play.

ya we have to play norfolk academy and cape henry because wer'e in their conference... so in addition to having to play the waste of time games against clubs, we also have to play a ridiculously hard team like NA, although we might have a chance against cape henry this year... all i know is im stoked for the season i cant wait to finally play

merattack, like bschsgoalie said, it was bull**** that someone did that to your gym, the fact that one kid's actions reflect so negatively on all of us is pretty messed up though, the vast majority of the students dont advocate that at all and supposedly when we find out who did it, that kid is getting expelled, and like bschsgoalie said, the kids who drank are being made an example of by suspension

XwarriorlaxX- If you knew the whole story I think you wouldn't be so quick to throw us all under the bus. The whole situation was a horrible screw up and was blown way out of proportion. By the way, were you aware the letters were 3" high, the "J" was rubbed off and it was 3 feet to the left of the "Bulldogs" and how would I know this? Dude, I was the guy who got kicked out of the game with the 10 foot "Holy Land" flag.
But I digress. Yeah, Catholic looks like we have a good team this year. I'd say we're solid for every starting position and have a capable 2nd string mid-field. Really excited for the season.

we played ok in that tournament, but unfortunately the championship game,(wakefield vs benedictine) was cancelled at halftime because of some lightening and thunder, it was gay because we were up by 6 and were just getting started on them. and there was one other d2 school there it might have been tandem friends but they didnt exactly come to play either

BSCHSgoalie13 -don't forget we played Lafayette in the tourney. They were on par with last year. Too bad during that game you were looking into the sun the whole time, and it didn't help that it was the sixth game of the day, but they are about as good as NSA if they had all their guys their.
MeRattack-yeah, i made it. I made a newer, sweeter one-black with gold and green letters but I'm banned from basketball games so its collecting dust in my entryway.
Edit: For some reason I was thinking Lafayette was D2, which they're not, but we still have to play them and they're a good team.

You realize we were missing 6 starters, and only had 1 running middie line, right?
Ya'lls goalie, by the way, had a stellar game.
That was one of the worst days of my life, 3 games in a day. The last game against Wakefield I could barely even run, and on defense I'd just stand there and they would do one dodge and would be by me. It was terrible, them cancelling at halftime was one of the best moments of my life, by far. But anyways, I look forward to the Wakefield tournament this year. Fraser, let me know when you figure out what teams are in the tourney.

hey pegasus, what happened to you guys against trinity episcopal?
A lot of things went wrong. We started off leading 3-0, let down our guard and they started coming back. We had one guy suspended, two people got injured due to concussions, and one got thrown out of the game because of a fight. The refs were really really bad, but I\'m not going to sit here and try and blame them for us losing, because it\'s never the refs fault.
laxgoaliebm16
03-12-2007, 07:30 PM
yes it sometimes is......ps i am also a reff
Pegasus
03-12-2007, 09:01 PM
Hm well it's interesting to hear that from a refs perspective. Honestly, even though my opinion is going to be greatly biased, the game was reffed extremely unfairly. We had been getting moving picks the entire game, and then on one occasion they picked up the ball, took two steps, and then one of their players leveled a kid on my team, all within literally five feet of the ref. The kid on my team got injured on the play, and when trying to argue my case (calmly, that is), the ref told me he "Didn't see the play." It was ridiculous. That's just one example of the poor reffing, I could go on for hours though on bad calls. It just seemed like it was one of those days when you don't get ANY calls, and the other team gets every one. Even the spectators agreed, so it's not all my bias.
laxgoaliebm16
03-12-2007, 09:57 PM
although saying 'didn't see the play' might seem like a cop-out it is often the case refs are watching so many things at once that happens from time to time

To tell you the truth, they weren't as good as I thought they would be. I don't know if it was really how good they are, but maybe it was because it's their first game (I think) and they're still kind of working out the kinks, or the 3 hour bus ride down had a lot to do wiht it. They definitely have the talent and can and probably will be a top team this year. Props to NDA for a well played game today.
