Is there any rules about playing up on a high school team when you are only in Middle School.

No. If you are under 18 you can play in an under 18 league at any age under 18.

No.

Issues of eligibility are not playing rule issues. In other words, they aren't addressed in the lacrosse rulebook, but by state and local associations. There is no way to answer your question directly. Your best bet is to have the high school coach look into it.

I will say that it is common to allow 7th and 8th graders to play up in some sports, but that there are sometimes restrictions. For example, at a school where I coached fencing, a 7th or 8th grader playing up had to make the Varsity team; they couldn't move up and then take a spot on the JV.

I would check with your high school league rules and see. In Texas, four years ago we had some 8th graders playing on some JV teams. Since then the league has mandated that it is strictly 9-12 grade.

It's all about safety. There are some considerable size diferences.

You may want to talk to the coach and see if you can attend practice with them. That is always an option.

Size differences can be a huge problem in youth lacrosse, where it's not uncommon to see a 6-foot kid playing a kid who's about 4-foot.

I would think moving up could be handled on a case-by-case basis.

Connecticut does not permit 8th graders to play high school sports. You should check the state eligibility rules, which are probably on the state high school athletics website. I would think that this is addressed by a state rule in most states.

But in states where HS Lax is not sanctioned, the state association rules don't apply.

Definitely check with the league administrators. The worst they can say is wait until 9th grade or the best would be yes.

Just remember there are no stupid questions.......

Play on over!
