yes i searched. i know there are already threads similar to this, i even made one of em last year. but i have some new questions and would really appreciate it if ya'll would give me some serious help and any information you have that you have personally used or whatever. thanks a ton guys.
ok so i play lacrosse in kentucky. i know what your thinkin. just some other wannabe lacrosse player posting some crap thread that doesnt matter. well im not gunna sit here and build myself up and say im the next mikey powell or anything but i am willing to put in the time and effort needed to be a college player. but i have a problem. good colleges dont recruit this far down south..especially not on D2 team that just got started last year. but i cant do anything about my school situation (parents, grades, etc.) i really wanna get seen but i dont have a ton of money to go to a bunch of fancy recruiting camps. my parents have said they'll pay for one, and im probably not gettin a car this summer so i can pay to go to another one. but lacrosse is pretty much my whole life and my dream job would be to coach after i graduate. we dont have all star teams, select teams, etc. where i live. my coach knows nothing about lacrosse cuz hes a soccer player, and it just doesnt seem like im in the right situation to get recruited...
so basically im askin for ya'lls help. some questions i have are:
What is the best recruiting camp to go to..considering my location and money situation...
What other ways can really help me get noticed and get my name out there?
anything and anything at all that you can tell me to help get me recruited or at least give me a shot to play in college would be awesome. feel free to ask any questions that would help you answer mine. i really appreciate it guys. thanks so much.

are there any specific colleges that you want to play at? if so, e-mail those coaches and just get your name out there. camps are a good idea for you, unfortunately i cant really tell you which one would be the best. also, maybe look around and see if there are any select or all star teams in neighboring cities or even states. i know this kid that played at a school that was really bad at lacrosse but he was really good, and he went and played on a select team out east and hes now playing d3. but thats only if you can afford it.

most people on here are gonna say email coaches, most of the time i just see that and ignore it, but if i were you and if i thought i had potential (and you sound like you do) then i would email a few coaches i thought i had a chance with and i would tell them exactly what you told us, i think they would email you back...it'd be cool if you could keep us updated

I don't know what year you are, but assuming you're not a senior, video tape this upcoming season. You don't need to do every game, but tape a few. Email coaches, let them know who you are, your stats, grades etc. DON'T IGNORE THIS! I don't know who said they ignore it, but if you want to have ANY chance of being recruited, coaches need to know you're out there and email is the way. Send the schools you're interested in your tapes, preferably after ask the coaches what they want, if anything. Most will ask for a full game or halves. It should be pretty easy to edit your videos.
Next, if you really want to go to a specific school, the school's camp will help you out much, much more than any recruiting camp will. So if you have a school in mind that you really just want to play for, opt to go to their camp or a camp where the coaches will be attending. If you're not sure, start looking at other camps and who attends coaching wise, so you can choose the most appropriate camp.
So basically, you need to get yourself exposure. No one, unless they're amazing and come from a well-known school, gets it done without doing anything. You need to initiate contact, email coaches, send tapes, attend camps and just show that you're interested. If you don't get recruited, don't be afraid to apply anyways and walk-on. being a walk-on is a real possibility, so don't rule that out either.

thanks a ton lilaxgurl, thats really helpful. but i dont know where im good enough to play. i mean im not so cocky i think i can email like Dave Peitremala (butchered) one of my game tapes and think hes gunna come knockin at my door. and im not a senior, only a sophmore, but i just think i need to get started and get my name out there soon if i want to have a chance to play college ball. also i dont know what specific college i want to go to, so what would be some good ones that i would get all around exposure from? maybe some D2 and D3 coaches?

ok well belarmine is right in kentucky i believe...... but they pretty much only take canadians :P. so are u trying to get a scholarship or what??? cuz if not why not come up to Canada to play.. our Universities pretty much all have lacrosse teams but u will find that it is nowhere near as intense as any NCAA schools. We do have some good talent in the CUFLA loop (Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association) but teams are not funded like the NCAA and CUFLA teams for the most part are just fun drinking clubs. But... if u enjoy playing lacrosse, wanna get a good education (for the most part, all Canadian Universities are good), wanna have a great boozing experience, and want to pay for school in Candadian dollars than maybe take a look up north. Here are the best Canadian Universities (in the CUFLA loop, which really is only ONtario universitys) rate our Universitys on the basis of quality of lacrosse program, education, and drinking/drunk girls category. ok so here it is:
western ontario (london, Ontario): probably top marks for party/drunk girls, this school was #2 on lettermans top party schools in North America, only got beat by UCLA. good marks for education and descent marks for the lacrosse team (the are improving)
brock (st catharines, Ontario): top marks for lacrosse team (the best CUFLA team, they are a dynasty, won 18 out of 25 national champs and have won 5 in a row so far) great for partying and drunk girls, descent for education (easy as hell to get into)
guelph (guelph, Ontario): very good lacrosse team (top 2 or 3), pretty good for partying (too many girls go to actually recieve an education tho, not good for their drunk levels), good for education
McMaster (Hamilton, Ontario): lacrosse team is improving a lot, very good for partying and school, and pretty good for education
McGill (Montreal, Quebec): lacrosse team is good, AMAZING for partying and girls (montreal is SICK! plus the drinking age is 18 here kids), and probably the best outta all these schools for education
Bishops (Lennoxville, Quebec): only lacrosse team to basically challenge BROCK over the last 5 years (in other words they got a good program), great for partying (school has a little over 2000 ppl and ive heard it can get pretty nuts over there), and good for education
Final note: you will notice that most schools are good for education and partying cuz most Canadian schools are. also the oldest you have to be to drink in any of the provinces is 19 and that is incredable when u compare to the 21 drinking age in states

What schools are you looking at?
There ARE certain camps that certain colleges attend.
Post a list and I'll name a few camps to look at.

o and i forgot in georgia and most other states (i think) have teams called like team georgia, team tennessee ect. and there is a list on a website about former team georgia players and just about all of em went on to play some type of college lacrosse..so if they have a team like that in kentucky i would try out for it, and how long have you been playing?

this is one of the dumbest things i've ever heard. college lax shouldn't be a party club, it takes serious commitment and dedication. i certainly don't do it for the social aspect, i barely even talk to some of the kids on my team outside of practice. some advice for you mohawk is to check out some lower end d2 schools and d3 schools, i know a few around me are really expanding their programs and it's a good place to find competition. also on a lot of team's websites are recruiting forms, make sure to fill a bunch of these out and the coach will most likely get in touch with you. just make sure to know a lot of things like your lifting weights, 40 time, etc.

You barely talk to some of your teammates outside of practice?
Shouldn't a team have a kinship; a friendship that will carry onto the playing field? This is what sports broadcasters call the "X Factor". How well a team plays together, the accustomed teamwork, the team chemistry.. you get me.
You have sound advice nonetheless.

since your right in louisville, the coach at bellarmine probably scouts around local high schools, so you should email him and ask him to come to one of your games.

The best thing you can do for this. I think, is to go to a recruiting camp, like Dixie Top 150, and see how you stack up against the competition.

i thought it was really funny and informative. but i as well believe you should bond with your team.
basically get good. i dont doubt your heart, or your grit to become better, but thats not enough. you have to be able to compete at an NCAA level. get the stick skills up so your not dropping passes and not making crappy passes, because coaches/scouts will just blow you off. and at a recruiting camp you will wont be noticed and will be hated by the other players because you cant feed them right or good enough.
i also suggest perhaps going into the NJCAA. basically community college lacrosse league. kick "a" in that and transfer. NJCAA should be a plan "b" though. go for NCAA first.
good luck. hopefully im of some help.
i also suggest
