I just got my goalie head re-strung, I've used soft mesh for years now and I've finally switched over to hard mesh. First night I got it i wetted the pocket and left a softball in it over night. The pocket is pretty deep now but the problem is that when I am catching with it or blocking shots the ball bounces off the hardmesh like a freaking trampoline, it almost doesn't even catch at all. My question is, how do I loosen up the mesh so it doesn't bounce off all the time?

keep taking shots....push ur pocket through the front or ur head so it kind of "gives" when the ball hits it

get softer hands? im not goalie but it seems like since youve been using soft mesh its done the rebounding for you and had more give but hard mesh has less give and itll make you work harder...and how many diamonds are you using?

The mesh just seems so unbelievably tight, its not just blocking shots its just throwing and catching too.

did you do double sidewalls? like string a sidewall without the string on it, then do crossovers down that sidewall and through the mesh. this will give the pocket more give and stretch.
and yeah i would just work on giving more like most people said. pretend like your saving an egg.

no guys its just the hard mesh .. ive always used harmesh in my goalie sticks ...and it just does that for the first few times you use it ... softer hands would be good aswell but ..it just needs to be broken in , have some patience cause when it does get broken in ... its sweet

just keep pounding it in. take that softball and just throw into the stick a thousand times (from both the front and back of the head) sometimes the hard mesh just takes a while to loosen up, especially after having been wet

put some conditioner in (along with water) and throw a bit. it should soften a little.

my secret for soft broken in feeling hard mesh is rubbing it in hair conditioner. rinse it in water and dry with a towel. dry it good. then rub hand lotion on it and break it in. try pounding it in.

Use conditioner. Soak the mesh in hot water and rub conditioner on it. Then pound it.

thats not really a secret, haha, anyway yea just use conditioner and stretch it alot, maybe even take a shower with it (it sounds weird but it works)
