Wat's up guys? I live in Minnesota and my high school just recognized lacrosse as a varsity sport! which is cool that i can letter in it, but we don't even get to play in the stadium! We aren't even playing on any of the high schools fields. We will be playing on an elementary school field again. Are any of your guy's school's like mine?? Let me know what you think and tell me it is either b/s or not.

yea we have to practice at the elementry school (and we have been/are state champ condenders) but my coach is old school and he doesnt care where we practice as long as it gets in (we only get in like 2 stadium games a year under the lights) regular day games are at another feild like 5 minutes from the school (its such a nice feild though)

In Texas, it's not a recognized 'UIL' sport so alot depends on if you play for a private or public school.
In our district it's a club team and you can letter in it, but you pay for the letter, jacket, etc [unlike the UIL sports which is free].
We use middle school fields to practice and middle school 'stadium's' to play on - but never in the football stadium - soccer doesn't even get to use those LOL!

We're Club Varsity. Meaning, we're the cool club sport.
We practice at the local college here. We have 3 fields lined out, however we let the middle school club (Shreveport Storm) practice on one. We have our games at the Parish stadium, with two lighted football fields. It used to be a highschool stadium until the other Parish schools protested to have it changed for use by every school, since it was funded by the state or something.

the point is pretty much that as long as you have enough room to practice and a decent enough field to play on, everything should be ok. If you get good enough, you can make an appeal to the school and all that and they would want to highlight you as a good thing about the school and give you better stuf, etc.

Not always true. My school has been state runner up twice and been to the final four like 4 times. They didn't even mention our tourney this weekend on the announcements, but they announce baseball, track, basketball, and girls lacrosse, none of which have done anything significant.

Here in wisconsin lacrosse isnt a state sanctioned sport, but my school reconizes it as a varsity club team, so we letter and everything. The only downside is we have no field space at the school. So like you other guys, were stuck finding our own field.

No my school isnt that bad but the only thing that blows me is that we dont have a Jv team which would give younger players experience something that i needed when i was a freshmen and sophmore

The school will not post announcements regarding the team without notification.
Maybe instead of blaming the school, you should talk to the president of your organization, or even coach, to notify the director of student activities at your high school to get announcements regarding lacrosse up.
Thats what we have to do, and even then they are really unhelpful about it.
