View Full Version : Does Va Have a Chance Against the Cuse!?

Do you think the Cuse will have a litle more to thow at Va than Drexel did? Or is that just not giving Drexel enough credit? Or maybe Drexel just has a better defense than Cuse. But I think right now it's looking rough for Va. Maybe Ward, Dixon, and Poskay were just that good or least they were certainly up to the task of getting the job done. Tougher? More talented? Probably both. Actually Cuse's offense might match up pretty similarly to Va's. They have about the same experience, fairly young overall. Who's tougher? Rommel, Brooks, Hardy, Nims, Perrit and Leveille? I think I answered my own question. I just hope Va doesn't take a dive like they did a couple years ago. Are we looking at a Drexel-Denver champioship game?

I actually did not see the UVA-Drexel game. So i dont know wheter UVA played really bad or Drexel played really really good. Uva could have under estimated Drexel. But UVA better get there act together fast before Cuse'.
Gotta say they're gonna get scored on alot Cuse could put up 20 goals on them and judging by the Drexel game I doubt UVA can keep up.

I just watched the videotape of Uva v. Drexel.
My only thought was : Virginia played horribly.
I am disappointed in the pre-season rankings. They had 8.23 margin last year, what happened??

although Im a SU fan till the end... still one of the proud su football season ticketholders; Do you really think the cavs are that bad based on one game? maby it just wasnt their day? maby they underestimated drexel?....im just saying dont count uva out it should still be a good game. on a sidenote its not like SU did so much better they only won by two and their D has some sliding problems.

Not to take anything away from Drexel, but I think this game was a fluke. Drexel came out hyped and ready to play; UVA came out flat and played terribly. Starsia should right the ship by the time they play Stonybrook, so I'll imagine they'll have a much better showing against Syracuse.

pietramala said himself that a team can change drastically from the first game to the second. i forsee much running in their futures.

I was at the Virginia Drexel game and the one thing i realized was the absence of the famous run and gun style that took UVA to the top last year. The loss of Kyle Dixon and Matt Ward were apparent and it is obvious that this team can't be run by sophmores in Glading and Billings. Even though I hate to say it, don't look for Drexel to be a force this year, hopefully virginia can rebound and prove that this was a fluke. Drexel's goalie played outstanding and it just seemed that the virginia offense had no flare or passion and couldn't shoot to save their lives, missing multiple doorstep opportunities.
On another note: After the game I saw one of the bratton bros. on his phone with a less than pleased look on his face. Might we see a change of school in the future for them...?

that would be real soft of him. if he and his brother really are worth all the praise they're getting, then they should be able to elevate UVa's game, maybe not as high as it was in '06, but high enough. they're supposed to be deadly in transition, where dixon and poskay excelled.

probably dissapointed his future school lost? i mean fans get dissapointed when their schools drop a game to anyone, let alone an unranked team.

This is shades of the unbelievable comeback and devastating hurting Hopkins put on Va when Va had them with twelve seconds to go! Virginia didn't learn their lesson yet. They've got the ball and the lead with 30 seconds left... and they lose the game! Where is the coach? Where is the coaching? Didn't they watch Joe Walters in Charlottesville a couple years ago when he handed the game to princeton when he gave them the ball on a missed point blank with 30 seconds to go! They next time they're winning a game with 16 seconds to go; maybe Starsia will decide to play some defense? They were able to rebound from the devastating loss to Hopkins the following year, but will they be able to rebound from this? Letting Hopkins come back with 12 seconds left is one thing, letting Drexel come back with 16 seconds is quite another. This time; they may have outdone themselves.

I think the 'cuse-uva game is going to be very high scoring with little defense. When you think about it 'cuse just has way to much fire power and although their defense is stilling seeing some problems i think they will still have more goals than goals against.

the score last year was 20-15 UVa, so it's bound to be another run n' gun shootout. should be fun to watch.

I'm gonna say that UVA had an off day against Drexel and Drexel had a great day. But this does tell you that with Poskay, Ward, and Dixon gone it'll be tougher for UVA. I say 'Cuse wins it in a close back and forth game of offense. But, you never know. Especially after losing to Drexel in their first game, they really need to show that they've still got it and if they don't beat Cuse, they're gonna miss their chance.

Dom is the last coach you want in charge when time is running out. His teams have made monumental errors in quite a few games with two minutes or less left in the game. This is just another brick in the wall. Hoos are missing Poskay, Little and Dixon at midfield. Ward at attack. Culver at Defense. They gave up 11 goals to Drexel! They only scored 10 goals against Drexel! Think about it. Biggest upset in the NCAA for decades. Syracuse will score at least 15 and if they lose to Cuse they are in trouble.
