If a goalie comes out and checks someone and breaks or bends his stick does that mean the ref must call a time out immediately to have the stick fixed or replaced or is it like any other broken stick on the field?

Section 27, Article 5 requires that play be suspended immediately if a goalie's stick breaks.
Whether 'bent' is to be deemed as 'broken' is open for interpretation, here. Also, a referee's 'suspension of play' is not like a time out. Play resumes as soon as the equipment is repaired or replaced, not after a prescribed period of time.

A.R. 24. Any metal or synthetic material handle that is bent, broken or split during normal play must be treated the same as a broken crosse.
Of course, what is "bent" is open to interpretation, but if you think it's bent, it's broken.
