Do you ever get nervous before a big game or try-outs? If you do, what do you do to calm your nerves?

Once I get the adrenaline the nervousness leaves me. So maybe do a little sprint, or jog/jump in place.

I start getting pumped probably 2 weeks before tryouts.
If i don't, i don't feel mentally prepared. Not a good feeling to play on.

I've got my first varsity start on Sunday, and I'm nervous/excited/anxious/freaked as hell. I'll probably listen to some music, or something. I haven' been able to sleep for the past two days though.

And get burned because you over-persued the person you were guarding. Just remain cool.
What I've come to discover is, you can't really get pumped up for lacrosse like you do for a football game, where you just go out and deck people. Lacrosse takes so much more body control and discipline. If you go out and just start nailing people, you're gonna lose.
Get focused. Thats what I plan on doing.

i keep telling myself im the best, im going to score 10 goals, etc. not think about the game itself too much, just what your trying to accomplish. especially during pre-game you want to do that so your not dropping passes, not making shots.

yea im a sophmore going for a varsity spot and im a little nervous-- basically what i do is run (running is a big part of tryouts for us) and i usually kill the required time and tht calms me down alot knowing i just have to go out there and have fun now and the stick work will fall in place

I always try to make it a point to get there early and just toss the ball around... do some easy stuff that will build your confidence... I usually just do trick shots and wall ball for a half an hour before any big event or game..

I try to ignore what makes me stressed, the fans and coaches. I play really well when people believe in me or I am messing around, but it messes with my game when my own team rags on me or tries to intimidate me. I suggest just trying to not worry about the results and just play like you would with friends, we are here to have fun, yadadamean?

I ususally just listen to some music. The way i get rid of my nervousness is to look around at my other teammates and say to myself "we are good enough and we will win". I just try not to get cocky because a lot of kids i know get all cocky before games and they get absolutely wrecked.

Before big games, I listen to some music to get me relaxed. If I am near a net, I use a short stick/my goalie stick and just shoot around on net. If none of those work, I just sit near my gear and just stare in space thinking of what I have to accomplish the game.

I just listen to music, talk with my friends while playing catch, and then sit and think about what I need to do.
