How popular is lacrosse in florida compared to other places in the states????

I live in Central Florida... It's not a hotbed state, like New York or the Tri-State area... But it gets around... Every year we get more players and more schools to open up programs...

In other words, it's noticed, but it's not the best place to be.

Yeah, it's definitely growing and getting a lot more recognition here. We're not a New York or Maryland yet, but probably more on par with California, Illinois, Colordao, and Texas.

It is big in south florida and is getting more serious

i play in south florida and although its not a hotbed its definatly big, and its good quality for the most part. i moved down here from virginia and its nearly as good.

For the 2007 season Florida has 113 boys high school teams and 88 girls high school teams. Those numbers are up by almost 25% from last year and 40% from 2005. Also there are a number of youth programs that have started in various towns/cities throughout Florida. It is growing and the quality of play is improving every year. The growth and development of the youth programs are what is going to take Florida lacrosse to the next level. You know it is having an impact when the baseball programs are complaining about a drop in the number of players because they are losing them to lacrosse. Throughout the state we are in need of quality coaching.
