Well, my friend Nicole plays for a different team and she taught me how to play goalie. she's taught me really well but my coach has a completely different strategy with playing goalie. This wouldn't bother me much if my coach hadn't told me that she had hardly any experiences in the goalie position. She herself played in high school but never payed much attention to goalie. So I'm nervous that she might be teaching me wrong. Nicole got taught by a previous goalie player who's on her varsity team so I know that her method is correct. Also, when Im just practicing with Nicole I'm pretty good. i can always learn from her but once I get to practices I can't keep focused and I freeze up. If I do that during the game I'm in serious trouble. So any ideas?

Practice the way your coach wants you to. Then in a game revert back to what feel good doing. Then as you get more used to what she wants you to do you might find that it works.

My opinion is nothing is ever wrong, it's just different. Try your coaches method, and for more than two minutes, and then explain to her that you are doing work outside of practice and like a different style better.

I agree w/ Garor.
My brother and his lacrosse goach (who was a goalie) taught me one way, and then my high school coach tried to teach me a different way and change my techniques and she didn't play goal either. I say try your coach's method, and if it doesn't work, talk to them and let them know you're more comfortable w/ the first way you were taught.

And a question for ya, are you doing ok w/ the way your friend taught you? Becuase if you're doing fine, it's a little absurd for your coach to change the way you play. You should only change something if you aren't accomplishing your goals or being inconsistent. At least thats my belief and what I've stuck w/.
