I dont know how many of you guys and girls just graduated this past year, but i just got back from orientation yesterday at NC State and all i have to say is wow. i had a blast, meeting new people whom i will probably continue to see throughout college. it's not just like a one time deal, because everyone you see there will still be there in a few weeks when school starts. not to mention i met a girl that i like so its even better. any of you been to orientation and had fun?

for you guys that are starting college (or even HS) this fall.

work you a$$es off your first semester. the way the GPA scale works, this is your only chance to start at zero, if you get a 3.5 this semester, you will have an easier time keeping your grades up. if you screw off this semester and get a 2.0, you will have to work your butts off to raise your GPA, since it moves slowly. if you get a 4.0 after getting a 2.0 your cumulative GPA will be 3.0. if you were to start with at 3.5 and get a 4.0 your GPA would be 3.75.

i know it sounds confusing, but trust me, if you work really hard your first semester, you will be better off than your classmates who are slacking off

this is definitely true. i had a scholarship in high school and if i maintained an 85+ average, i could keep it. in my freshman year, i got like a 91/92 average and then had like 83, 90/91, and 86 for the rest of high school and i kept my average to like 88 because of that freshman year. they definitely should've taken it away when i was a sophomore but because i averaged above 85, they couldn't do anything.

My orientation is right before school starts. Ive already met a few people on the lacrosse team [upperclass] I kinda wish orientation was earlier just to get it over with.

He's so right. I dont think I'll have any trouble with the gpa but I know that I won't be doing as standout quality work because most people accepted into NC State were like top 20 % of their high school classes.
