i searched. nothing came up.
im getting ready to order spools of string to string up some sticks people have given me. I have always used what my coach gives me, but now ordering a spool is getting me confused.
do i need crosslace and top string and side wall spools or am I ok with just one of those?
any kind of help is appreciated.

You need Sidewall and Topstring if you want to string a mesh pocket. Some people just order sidewall and use that as their topstring though.

i use crosslace straight up. When i used to use sidewall I had to deal with breaks at least twice a season. But since I've switched to crosslace i havent had a break yet.

mesh can be strung w/ just sidewall topstring isn't needed
customs can be strung w/ sidewall &/or Crosslace

you don't need sidewall and top string, order a spool or spools of crosslace. sidewall and top string is unnecessary. Crosslace is most commonly used by most "more" experienced stringers on the site.

im stringing all mesh pockets. i know cross lace is used in traditional, but whats the difference between the three: cross lace, topstring, sidewall

crosslace is more tightly woven and has a few fill threads. sidewall is not as tightly woven and doesnt have fill and in my experiance wears and breaks much more easily than crosslace. Topstring is just crosslace with much more fill, so it is thicker, but stringing with topstring is excessive because crosslace does the job just as good. And you arent restricted to a certain type of pocket when you are using string you can use sidewall in trads and you can use crosslace in mesh

in english it means that topstring is the thickest, then sidewall and then crosslace is the thinnest

yeah but u gotta also think about the weave, the tighter weaze gives more strength id say go for the crosslace straight up
all i use is crosslace the thinner lace allows for tighter knots and also it lets u put it thru smaller holes in heads so its prolly ur best beyt and since its just as strong as sidewall (if not stronger) ull be much better off

I would just get some crosslace. I find it easier to pull the mesh tight on the sidewalls. There is no real advantage or disadvantage to either, besides durability. Some say crosslace because of tightly woven, some say sidewall because of thickness. I say crosslace though, I have never had a problem with it breaking.
