hey, I just wanted to get the opinion of a few goalies on here cause the guy that warms me up says im crazy...has anyone else been warmed up/used those Brine NCAA championship balls with the dimples? I felt that the welts I get from those things are a whole lot worse than regular balls, and I swear that those things whistle as they're commin at ya.http://www.sportingauction.com/product/BRINECHAMPBALL (http://http://www.sportingauction.com/product/BRINECHAMPBALL)

All its suppossed to do is give the ball more grip. Its just like warriors grippy ball except instead of all those little round dimples that are super tiny, the brine one has triangle dimples. It doesnt do anything special its an ordinary ball. It was used I believe in the '03 NCAA Final Four ( i think)
It shouldnt hurt more its normal weight as any other ball and mine dont make a whistling noise.

That Brine ball also feels lighter than any other ball I've tried out there. Even though it adds grip, I don't get the right feel as far as release or cradling goes.

they have never been used at a final four and i dont believe that they have ever been used for any D1 NCAA contest.

Oh really, my bad I wasnt sure. Isnt there some reason though that they say "championship"? The warrior grippy balls say something about MLL use, so I was just guessing that these brine ones were used. It doesnt matter but now Im just curious about them.

we had a thread about this a while back. brine calls them championship balls because it sounds better than "balls that cost way more than regular ones but will never be used in any sanctioned competition anywhere, now please empty your wallet into this box here, and run along like a nice little laxer"
i'm pretty positive that the MLL actually uses the grippy balls in competition, but i'm not much of a MLL guy so wouldnt say for sure.

I hav talked to an MLL goalie who hates them. He said that they scrape skin if they are thrown hard enough and leave crazy bruises

Yeah. Since they grip more, they probably stick to your body longer. Even if it's a few hundreths of a second, it'll still probably do greater damage.
