Mine went pretty bad basically out of 7 shots I only stopped 2... The only good thing was I could clear them.... but it was one of the worst experiences of my life...

-It's not like I suck I can make some pretty nasty saves, especially in practices or scrimmages... I guess I got nervous...

BTW: all i played was the 2nd half

yeah, ummm, I need you to string in die like 2 sticks btw  I want to die one black and one possibly green. I really want a smooth deep pocket 18 diamond, like it should be a perfect bowl shape, is this possible? ill look for a pic of what im talking about later.

well i played first half and out of like 7 shots i let four in, but my defense is amazing so i didn't have to worry to much. Although my first clear attempt ever was embarrassing, i went to throw, and the bell fell out and all the attack guys started to rush me...lol

First game on JV in Wlax I had a shutout. I don't remember my frist Varsity game, I know it wasn't a shutout though (I've only had one on Varsity and that happened last year). I think my first game up on Varsity might have actually been against the local powerhouse when we lost 22-5. It was a grand ole time regardless of whether it was my first start or second :chuckle: Sad to say my defense never really improved. Everyone graduated that played defense last year, and we now have new coaches, so there is potential for a new, solid defense!

so nervous you couldn't sleep well the night before... check
saving more than were scored on you... yes, but that doesnt matter because i was backup and went in the second half after they had already put up 11 on the board to our none and theier third or so string was in and they took low percentage easy save shots... but regardelss... i stil felt bad that we lost 19-1...

Same season
It almost was almost as bad as a 24-0 lost against a travel team from chapel hill I still had about 15-20 saves in the gamehttp://www.lacrosseforums.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=1063230#

Well I only played goalie once in my life because I wanted to get back into lax as soon as possible from an injury and we didnt have a goalie for indoor. I had like 12 goals scored on me and 4 saves. The 4 saves were all luck, kinda bad luck for me, one hit me in the shin, the other in the thigh, and the other contused my toe, the other hit me in the shoulder. Funny part is, it wasnt even box..

most of what i can remember, the balls didn't actually go on net. Don't get me wrong though in practice before the first game i was pelted with many balls.
Plus i played only one half. Do not trust me on my statistical memory its not very good, ill i can remember are the sights, most of it is a blur.

My first game, eh could have gone better.

I was in seventh grade, about three years ago, and this wasn't just myfirst game, this my team's first ever actual lacrosse game, so none of us were really prepared for what was about to happen. I let up 12 goals and had an estimated 25 total shots. my problem was that I was scared of the ball. Mostly because when I first volunteered to play goalie, I didn't really know what I was getting myself into, and it didn't help very much when all of the 8th graders fired shots at me when I had no idea what I was doing. So that contributed a little. All in all though, I was kind of pleased with how I did, even though I sucked.

I think they scored once, and I think I may have picked up the ball like three times, never had to actually save the ball.

I played a half of defense, came off the field, changed ( I was down to my underwear on the sidelines) and jumped in goal with no warmup. I got shot on about 5 times in a quarter. blocked 2, one hit the behind. I got scored on twice, except one was luck. It hit the plastic on my stick, bounced, hit the pipe and went in.

I can't remember which was my first game but the first few games were fun. I accidentally broke a kids leg (with the help of a defenseman... we both hit the kid cause he was on the edge of the crease. Not a hard hit, but we both hit him and it was an awkward fall) in one game and I scored in the other. I was a middie before so, out of habit, I ran and in that particular game I ran it up to half field and lobbed it and the goalie wasn't paying attention and I scored. It was 6th grade I believe, maybe 7th.

i remember perfectly. 7th grade after i had just given up attack. it was an interesting game. i had just bought my first nemesis with factory mesh so there was no pocket bit i could throw very well with it. i remember the score of 7-6 which we won because i somehow stopped a 1 on 1 attempt at the 5 hole as my last save in the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. i remember so well because i tried to cradle behind the net and couldnt dodge away from this attackman that was on me. so my coach called a timeout just as i got away from him and he was yellin at me because i wasted a timeout. then a minute later i made that save and he let that go. he said that i cancelled it out and i have his respect again.

my first box game 2-2 tie. we only tied because the league gave me a stick a whole near the bottom near the throat of the mesh and the ball roled down and into my stick and out the back and into trhe net.

We played a semi-local military school. Man, were those kids big. The only real thread was this one guy they'd run around crease and nobody could stop him.

We lost 15-7, but I had twenty-something saves on the day and like 13 of the goals were crease shots.

In my first game playing goalie, I had to play face-off mid for the first half (my usual position back then) then at half time, change into my goalie equipment and play between the pipes. I somehow managed a shut-out with 4 saves in the 2nd half, but it was only JV so the shots weren't insane.

My first game was more of a scrimmage. It was during the preseason and we lost 7-4. I let in 4 goals on 7 shots, which isn't too bad. Our clearing game was good, but once we got the ball on offense it started to unravel. Guys weren't moving, there were so many dropped passes, that kinda stuff. We were on defense for most of the scrimmage.

This last Wednesday, had never been in game situation only practiced and warmed up every day for practice but no real shots. In the game I played the second half and it was so cold I couldn't feel the ball in my stick or the stick in my hands even. It was about 40 degrees and rainy and nasty. I had to stay out beforehand and watch the Varsity play, so I was freezing. About 9 shots I think that were on net. 4 were goals, one of the post, one of the foot, one of the shin one of the elbow and in the final seconds one off the top of my head and over- I couldnt get the stick up in time. A couple missed the net and I came out for one hit in front of the crease. This was our first game as a team, and many people's first ever, so we got crushed and I felt like I did a pretty awful job as I didn't get the actual head of the stick on any ball except for endline clears. One shot hit off the shaft of it though... :whyme:

it went a little like this. the coach was giving me a ride to the game with his son and another team mate. and coach said, "okay guys im not going to beat around the bush, craig sucks at goalie. who wants to give it a try?" i said i'll do it, and i didnt do half bad. we won 6-2. the 2 that went in were bouncers, and it was my first time ever being goalie so there wasnt much i could do about it. all in all it was a good experience

I just started playing goalie like 3 days ago, because our varsity goalie quit in the middle of the season. I actually beat the back-up goalie for the varsity spot, because I have some experience playing hockey goalie, so that helped a little on angles. But I had my first varsity game yesterday. We lost 11-9. I had 22 saves.

my first game I played because a lot of our starters were in band...and they had a big performance and missed the game...our starting goalie was in band so I stepped up to the plate to play...it was my first year ever playing goalie...and the first time other than practice that i was in goal. Long story short...we lost 8-7, missing half our starters...but it was crushing...since i was new i couldn't help but blame myself...like it was all my fault we lost the game even though about 6 of the 8 goals were 1 on 1 goals...so i got down on myself quick...but thats my story....not so short after all. my b.

Mine has alittle story behind it, in 8th grade leagues here you play 3 games every saturday no one wnated to play goalie so we chose this one kid to play and he was scared to death but he would blame everyone else for the goals so after about 2 weekends i was sick of it so i step in and really just didnt care about getting hit after i got hit a couple times in warm ups so first game ended up winning 7-3

Lacrosse4life31

well im the only goalie so.. i played all game

we won 6-1, the team we were playing was garbage.
i took two shots to the arm (for my first game.. those... HURT!)
i took one shot to the ankle at the end, which hurt
i took two shots to the thigh and had big bruises there for along time
and thats about it... the goal they got in on me was the guy was right on top of the crease, he was standing on the line (aren't refs supposed to call that?) and scored. We have an outstanding defense, and attack. the only problem with our team is that our middy's are weak! they are slow and most of the first year players play middy. But the second time we faced that team we beat them again 7-4 so i think that team just had bad coaching because their football team is top-notch.
o well, it was one of the best expeirences, only thing better then that is when we faced our rivals twice and beat them both times.
