No, titanium is not overrated, simple as that.

i don't thinks its overated. but it is a little over priced. anyways, i keep hearing all these problems with ti shafts breaking and denting and i really think its just the luck of the person using it. They wouldn't sell nearly much if everyone knew that stx ti's or titan classics or anything of that sort were pieces of crap that dented badly after three games

i just got my stx ti and so far, after two indoor games, it is a beast. However the warrior titan series are garbage and i have bent one and snapped a dpole. I have also seen countless titans snap or with gigantic dents.

well heres my input, for short sticks i can understand using titanium, becuase its light and strong, but in a d pole, theres more area to dent, and its also the company that makes it. i'm not sayin that they're horrible pieces of worthless crap, i'm just sayin that in the future, i dont think i'm gonna b buyin any more titanium, because i can get a lighter stick for less, thats all. i have a brine flip grip super alloy, and i love that shaft, i find it better than the titanium (except the grip, ti's is amazing)

Okay, so your denting the strongest metal in the game, what if it was a differnt metal, it would be bending or breaking...
All shafts dent, I don't care about dents.
And if your comparing it to a Magnum flipgrip, thats not fair, no shaft should have to be compared to Mag Flippys, because there is/are no shafts comparable.

yes, titanium is the most overated lax accessory on the planet.
a little over priced? spending $100 on a shaft is a little overpriced?

call me retarted, but i never knew that magnum flipgrips were known to be amazing, i thought maybe i was the only one who knew  so maybe i'm spoiled from my flip grip

I think the idea is great, its just not worth paying over 100 bucks just on a shaft espeically since they dent quite easily. I have talked to my dad (an engineer) about this subject and he says its ridiculous on how much they charge for ti's since there isnt much in each alloy that they use, and how poorly ti shafts perform in general(for the most part/most shafts).

Ti overrated nahh but if your paying full price for the shaft then thats your fault, ive had my oldschool STX Ti and this thing is a monster , i dont know much about the new ones but mine definitely performs to standard

They are amazing.
I don't know who else knows, but I know FLD and CSlaxplaya also know the magnum flip grips amazing-ness.

You can make it as expensive as you want it to be.
If you want a zany pimpslappin graphic on your ti, go for a warrior.
If you want one of strongest ti shafts, go for a mohawk ti.
P.S. Mohawk proves that titanium isn't a big deal to make if you think logical about their pricing.
Needless to say, every mainstream company overprices their products, you pay for the looks, the name and so forth.

well i personally like using alloys because they seem lighter, but if i can find a ti for cheap then i will get it

no way. i have a Ti22 and some consider it a "lower end" titanium and i've had it for 1 tournament all of fall ball, all of winter, and every sunday practice and every other wednesday practice and i've only managed 3 MINOR dents.
i dont think im ever gonna use a non titanium shaft again... i love them.

yup its overrated. I've seen many more titanium poles snap than any other material, including wood and al600 (which just bends)

no idea how heavy it is but wasnt it designed for box use originally? with that thought in your mind you know it can take a beating

I've held this belief for awhile, despite how many people disagree with it:
Unless you are playing at a very high skill (i.e. college, any upper form of box lacrosse, pro, elite post-collegiate club), and/or high impact level of lacrosse (i.e. you have a tendency to break shafts often/you play box lacrosse), titanium shafts are not necessary.
It aggravates me when I coach youth players and they have Levitations, Titan Pros, or an STX Titanium that weighs more than the kid himself. Hell, even when JV lacrosse players are using Titanium-do they really need to have a shaft that strong and that expensive?
Titanium shafts, at least the good ones, are heavy. They weigh as much as aluminum, and generally, shafts that heavy are uncomfortable compared to lighter, alloy shafts. And these titanium shafts cost double of what these alloy shafts cost. And for the most part, many of the alloy shafts out today (ex. ANY c405 shaft) are quite strong and have a solid track record for durability.
So the only advantage of a titanium shaft is its durability. You sacrifice weight, shaft options (most companies only make one titanium shaft, they only come in one color), and cash just for durability. And for the types of players I mentioned at the beginning of this post, it's a fair trade. But for lower level lacrosse players, it is simply an awful trade-off.
Unless you have some roid-raging ADHD psycho on your team, will your stick take that much punishment throughout a season? Generally, no. C405 and other alloy shafts are clearly durable enough to last the vast majority of players a full season, at the very least. To be a lower level lacrosse player using an expensive titanium shaft would be like boarding up your house for a hurricane in Idaho: it's unnecessary, impractical, and unlikely to pay dividends in the end.
And in the event that you get a hard hit, because it happens at every level, many of the times it won't matter what shaft you use. Look at LaxCheck101-his STX Ti dented three times. Those dents would have existed if he had a c405 shaft, and they wouldn't likely be any bigger of dents. But, he would be about 50 bucks richer right now.
So given all of these impractical circumstances, why do we see 10 year olds with Titan Classic Lazers? It's the same reason why someone has Louis Vuitton suitcases while someone else has Samsonite suitcases-fashion and social status. Billy the aspiring lacrosse player looks cooler if he has a Titanium shaft while Joe the poor kid has an AL2000. But in their peewee lacrosse league, neither is likely to get their stick dented up.

After my oldest son played 4 years we laid out the cash for a Levitation. Dented and bent the 1st varsity scrimmage last year. Returned it and got 3 DB 803s and had $ left over. One lasted all the D1 HS season , 2 summer leagues, and half of this years indoor before bending. We love them. Don't always believe the hype.

I think the warrior Ti's (Levi, titan classic, titan pro, etc...) are way over priced, and a bit overrated. But, the Mohawk Ti lives up to the (never dents or anything) Ti hype. It was seriously 56 bucks, and has lasted 4 seasons so far with no more than a few scratches.
