Yeah, makes it like glass, very weak.
This thread should be titled ''The reason you have a back up head in the cold ready to go''
And I checked out the links because I wanted to see how bad your head looked, but in the future try putting thumbnails, a lot more people will look at them, trust me.
You can host them at webshots.

Yep...and I'd start out with the backup or any head you don't mind breaking as much if it is a really cold day.

don't mean to hijack the thread, but would stiff heads be more likely to break in the cold than flexible ones?

I think so, they would become more brittle than flexy ones.

Stiff and Flexy heads have basically the same chance of breaking.
Both become very weak.

OMG, we had to practice outside today ("I will NEVER, EVER cancel practice!" - my coach today) and its the 20's, and snowing. 3 heads broke. One kids first broke down the middle at the top of the scoop. He thought he could survive till the end of practice, it wasnt too bad. A few minutes later, the top half of both sidewalls snap. Now he has 3 complete breaks, and the top half is split and hanging on by the pocket. Kinda funny cause enough is still there to use as a ligit pocket.
Also a d-pole snapped his at the neck that was actually on the pole. not above it, but slide next to it.
And another broke by the same kid i mentioned first, but he was using another kids backup. Cold weather sucks

florida baby :D
Some kid on my team broke his evo 2.0. It wasn't that cold, he just sucks at catching. You can only hit the sidewall with the ball on long passes so many times before it snaps.

second practice of the year, 4 sticks break including mine.
1-first year player with one crack already in it snaps sidewall on his blaze.
2.Goalie running drops his stick and steps on it and cracks the sidewall on his money.
3.Middie in linedrills on pavement goes down for a pass on the ground and the sidewall on his evo pro disenigrates. Now has a convertible sidewall on one side.
4. Mine, im a pole not paying attention and try to bat down a pass, cracks my evo in two places on the sidewall bbut not all the way through yet.(it is already broken by the stringing hole before this). Then i lay down a check on a kid and the middle of my evo's sidewall pops out. next check it just snaps all the way through. RIP EVO

well we played in the gym today instead of outside but a kid (newbie 1) was going against a long pole (newbie 2) in one on ones today, and newbie 1 tried to scoop the ball, but newbie 2 fell on it and totally shattered it. There were pieces everywhere. It basically made my day

Damn, that looks like a 1st gen too (the best, and rarest, gen for torques, I'd say). Bummer.
Being in New England I've seen it happen way too many times...the worst is when it happens on gbs; you feel like such a dumbass :banghead:
