Today in practice I was violated by a hard rubber ball. We were stuck in a small gym in the middle school and we didnt have nets so we just put some tape on the walls and called them goals. So we were just playing a quick little 3 on 3 game and a defender from the other team ran down the gym and I came out to stop the shot and the next thing I knew I was on the ground. The pain was so bad I didnt know what to do, I just laid on the ground squirming while every one around me tried to calm me down. I must have been on the ground screaming for at least 10 minutes. I almost threw up the pain was so intense. I had a cup on so I am really suprised at how much it hurt, I knew a cup wouldnt stop all the force on those shots but I just couldnt believe the pain. After the pain went away enough to walk, I walked out into the hall and laid on the cold tile floor. I dont even know if I made the save lol.

I take ball shots all the time and im a defender, but im extremely unlucky when it comes to that. It's terrible, i have only been hit wit ha shot twice, but several times i have been checked in the balls or passed into the balls. I don't wear a cup which = pain.

i've taken a shot there the past three days.
yesterday was the worst though. from 5 yards out, the kid ripped it full force to look cool.
my teammate punched him in the face for me.

I don't know why that defender guy who posted doesn't wear a cup. After a teammate had to have surgery on a ruptured testicle after getting hit during LINE DRILLS there's not a single practice, let alone a game, in which I don't wear a cup. Even the lightest tap can do a huge amount of damage if it hits just right.
But seriously, it seems almost every game I get a stick to my crotch when going for a ground ball or something. I've been lucky to never come in contact with a ball, but even those accidental stick checks would take you out if you don't wear a cup.

But...it'll save you A LOT of pain. I've been getting hit with a lot of balls lately, thankfully none in the :worship: place, but I'm wearing a cup to practice regardless.

It's a lot easier to run with a cup if you have those slider shorts. Shock Doctor makes some gnarly hockey cup compressions.

i have by far the worst
my sophmore year, two practices into my first varsity season we were in teh gym and one of my teammates who now plays at yale took a wide open shot from 8-10 yds out right into my johnson family, and shattered my cup. needless to say i threw up after practice and couldnt eat for a good 24 yrs and i feel fortunate that that was it

my coach did that to me 2 years ago. he wound up from 10 yards and got me between the cup and my thigh and my cup cracked and it cut my thigh, and i threw up after cuz it hurt so badly.

i've never broken a cup or gotten hit while un-protected. for all the people that have thrown up when hit, is it like an instant barf or like a slow i feel sick... :puke:?
and i assume you feel nausea all day.

You play goalie, and you don't wear a cup? C'mon, use the brains God gave you. Go buy some common sense, since you don't have any already. I wouldn't care if I had the quickest hands in the world. When I get hit in the balls, I'm glad I have a cup on.

I hate when defenders shoot because they shoot directly at you.

You instantly feel like you are going to heave. It stuck with me for a good 15 minutes. The only reason I didnt throw up was because practice would have been over for the rest of my team and I didnt want to ruin it for them.

I wear a hockey goalie jock. Getting hit in the groin for me is no worse then getting hit on my chest protector. It was really a great investment.

I hate when that happens. I got hit right there without a cup. Don't ask me why I wasn't wearing one. I have no idea why. I fell straight to the ground and crawled away. I was in agony for the rest of the practice. Good thing I had some hockey shorts on and that dulled some of the pain but not enough.

Speaking of food...I have another funny thing to tell you guys. About an hour after practice I was absolutely starving. I figured I wouldnt eat for the rest of the day but I went to Burger King and got 2 whoppers and a large fry. My dad was in awe at the fact I was even eating.

see, i used to think like that last yr. i thought of it as incentive. but then i thought about it, and you can actually do it to yourself. if the shot comes and you get a piece of it but it deflects off your stick it can theoretically "go low". its happened to me this year. i was just screwing around. id rather take the extra time to get a cup and put it on this season. last season i went without and it came close last yr, but think about it.

i play goalie in hockey and my coach was drafted into the nhl (before he blew out his knee) and during practice he was shooting on me just screwin around. he then whinds up from about the top of the circles and blasts on right at me. next thing i knew i was on the ice almost in tears. after practice was over i was changing and i looked at my cup and it was cracked right down the middle. all i can say is thank god we created cups

Girl goalie here, but common sense.
Kid, wear a cup.
You're not going to be the best goalie ever.
And never get hit.
And if you happen to suck (not saying you do)
And you get hit alot,
you won't have kids.
And I'm sure it doesn't feel all too great.
I can.. almost relate. Senior player is tip toeing the crease and full force rips the ball at the goal. Hits me directly in the crotch bone.
I fell like a freggin I don't even know what.
And I had goalie pants on too, man.
Didn't do a thing.
But I'm sure that the guys pain, if by far worse.
Still, I wanted to like aghh cry and scream.
But my coach goes.. "Ohh you're fine, get up."
Yeah. Cool coach.

that was funny. my coach ripped me in the cup recently and it was fun. my cup didnt break or anything, it just pushed back so much than it left an impression around my crotch. cups are a smart thing to wear. i said earlier about the incentive to block the shot, thats true and all, but think if your stick broke or something and the ball goes through. so your always in jeopardy, and i think your parents would appreciate it if they could have grandchildren.
