Hi
I was wondering if anybody had found some wicked small shin guards whether they be soccer or any other sport. Due to the completely stupid goalie rule I will be forced to wear them, but I want the smallest ones possible. If anybody has found some super small ones can you tell me where to find some?

Thanks

ya i was looking at some little kids ones. I looked at the rulebook and it does not specify size, but I might keep on in my bag just to show the refs when they tell me they are too small.

ya some of the refs are kinda crazy. I think i might just keep my actual soccer shinguards in my bag just in case though.

Yup - you never know what those Umpires will say, especially in NH, unless you ask :chuckle:

There are no specifications in the Rulebook, Umpire Manual, nor any messages from the Rules Committee regarding size, thickness, shape or anything else about the new mandatory leg padding. An umpire would have a really hard time ruling something as 'too small', since that's completely subjective. As long as you're wearing something that looks like it is designed to fit on a leg, then you should be fine.

There is a thickness guideline body padding which includes the leg protection may not exceed 1" in thickness.

Good point Lax-Ump. I should have written, "There are no minimum specifications..."

Max specifications have long been in the Rulebook. You can't get in the cage dressed like a field or ice hockey goalie.

My daughter (who hates the new rule and prefers no pads whatsoever) is wearing stretchy neoprene sleeves that football players wear as arm pads. There is no minimum specification in the rules and they fit tight with no slipping.

Maybe I am really far behind the times, but what rule are u speaking of? I am a goalie and have never come across this issue. Is there a new rule this year? and is it just high school or every league? I know youths have long been required to wear leg protection, but never any older.

Female goalies playing in High school and younger are now required to wear shin and thigh padding. Officially the stupidest rule in girl's lacrosse.

Take a tiny strip of cardboard and tape it to your legs. Tiny, instant shin guards.

A rediculous rule, I might add.

You know, it really boils down to what the coach will let you wear and call it protection And it is the coaches responsibilty.

Season is only 17 days away!

Lax-ump, won't the ump will have the final say as to what is ok and what is not? No matter what the coach says.

Although not "wicked" small. OSI shin guards are incredibly comfortable. They cost a bit more, but mold perfectly to your shins. I wore them throughout high school, and still wear them under my sweats this year.

Worth the investment. You won't feel them, which is more important than size IMO.

No, the ncaa hasn't lost its mind. I wear mine because I did in high school.

My coaches hardly know the rules. Plus they are more focused on teaching people how to catch and throw since we only have 6 people who can do this, including our 2 goalies.
But I have my first game next week on Wednesday against Cape Cod Academy and then Thursday against Martha's Vineyard, so I will see what the refs say.

The rule only says the goalie must wear protection, does not state what size. If can not be overly thick as mentioned above. Other than that - umpires will ask the coach if all the players are properly equipped to play (this includes mouth guards and eye protection for the field players). The coach will answer yes and the game proceeds.

I personally would expect that US LAX will add to the rule next year, with specific guidelines on the type and size of the protection.

Have FUN - Season is only 12 days away

You know - this board has only mentioned the shin protection. Ladies lets not forget the rule also specifies thigh protection for the upper legs is also required. Rule 2.6 page 15.

I would hope that they get rid of this rule all together and go back to letting the goalie decide what to wear. But that won't happen unless enough people write them and say how much they dislike it.

I was at a scrimmage against a neighboring town last week, Half wasy through the 2nd half the ref starts yelling at our coach just then relizing that our goalie did not have shinguards. Luckily I had extras buti mean seriously floks how many people need to complain about this before the A. take the rule out or B. make specs for it

I MISS MY SHIN BRUISING!
