View Full Version : Favorite Female Athletes - post your pics
Who are your favorite female athletes? Either specific ones or by sport in general. You may like them based on their performances, personality, looks, whatever. Now before posting,
:angry READ & HEED THESE RULES! :angry
1. Keep it clean - the pics and your language. A brief description of the sport or athlete is nice. Pole dancing and wet t-shirt contests do not count as sports.
2. Only use photos of athletes dressed for their sport. For example, Gabrielle Reece in a bikini for a pro beach volleyball game is good. A photo of her from a Maxim mag bikini glamour shoot is bad.
3. No more than 5 photos per post. And keep them to a manageable size. Save the huge pics for your desktop.
4. No Anna Kournikova! Yes, we all know she's hot. She's also way overexposed and played out.
5. To the ladies here on TLF... You're welcome to start your own thread on your favorite male athletes, but this one is only about females.
Track athletes have the best stomachs. Nicole Teter, US middle distance runner.

Divers are cool too. Laura Wilkinson, US Olympic diver

Gymnasts are bendy. Hollie Vise, US Gymnastics team member.
Of course, I like wlaxers too, but I'll leave that to others...

my favorite woman athelete is michelle akers, another 99 cup veteran, she suffers from chronic fatigue syndrome and still managed to be a very important part of the team winning the cup. besides suffering from CFS, she's a few months older than i am and was still playing at the international level till the sidney olympics.

My daughter was born the morning after the women won the 99 world cup. I almost got her named Mia, but my wife nixed that.
Um, what happened to not posting pictures of a girl because she was hot? Is this just a loophole?

I was unable to find a picture of her but my all time favorite athelete is Tori Wellington. She was an amazing defender at UMD during the years when they won seven NCAA championships in a row. She's my favorite athlete just because she encompasses everything I want to achieve: a successful lacrosse career (plus she plays defense, my posistion), a great job (she works for Under Armour), she is really nice, and she is tall. For those of you who know, I'm a mere 4'11" so her height is something for me to look up to!
I also admire, of course, Jen Adams. Her power to command an audience, her personality, and her skill in the women's game is a gift to all those who are able to know her and those who are able to see her play. Another personal favorite is Cathy Nelson Reese. Just a great gal all around, she's definitley accomplished a lot of what I hope to do in life and she's just great. I wish I could have seen her play while she was at UMD.
Aside from those three, I admire ALL women athletes in general because of their ability to continue to push their body to their limits and continue to pioneer a path for all women athletes to come. As a society we are a long way from accepting womens sports on equal footing with mens sports.

SumSum, you can find a video interview of Tori Wellington at lacrossechannel.tv, all you need is RealPlayer.
Here's the direct link: http://www.lacrossechannel.tv/showvideo.cfm?ID=1745
Hint: All Lacrossechannel.tv videos can be downloaded by opening the .rmm file with Notepad and then download the direct link with FlashGet.

Is this just a loophole? No doubt you're referring to the WARNING TO: horny teenagers (http://www.lacrosseforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7550) thread. Why don't you re-read it? jmplax31 didn't post it to ban all "hot or not" type threads but as a warning to keep them from getting out of hand. If jmplax and/or Mark feel this thread breaks forum rules, then they are free to delete it. I thought I made it pretty clear in my first post that this is a clean thread for all male AND FEMALE TLF members to admire female athletes.
My god Raine. What are you going to do when the Summer Olympics roll around? Run around condemning the female athletes for wearing form fitting performance apparel while pushing the limits of the human body?
Spenny and others - Foudy, Chastain, Hamm, and others announced they will be retiring after the Olympics. Ackers retired after Sydney I believe. Truly the end of an era to the 1999 'Girls of Summer' World Cup Champions.
Sharapova is only 17! To win Wimbeldon at age 17 - incredible. It will be interesting if she can sustain a successful tennis career or flame out like Kournikova (Anna never even won a Grand Slam).
sumSum - I think 2001 was the last year they played for MD, but both Tori and Jen Adams are still seen quite often in Under Armour ads (& also STX for Adams). E.g. Tori Wellington below. At 6'2", she gives Summer a lot to look up to. :laugh

Yep, thats Tori!
When I first met her and told her she was biggest hero and I wanted to be like her she laughed and said "Well you've got to grow some," or something...anyway...while it was funny, it truly crushed me. Sigh...

the end of an era is exactly correct. i thought michelle akers retired during the runups to the sidney game due to back injuries...

I think they used to. Now the league is defuct :(
I've never been a big soccer person so I never went out to see any games but while at BU lax camp last summer I saw the Boston women's team and the Washigton Freedom warming up. I stayed after with some girls because they wanted Mia Hamm and girls like Tiffany Millbrett (sp? right person) autographs. Mia Hamm did not impress me with her personality but she was prolly just tierd after practice and annoyed with all the reporters.

I always like G.U.T.S. and Wild And Crazy Kids better. And Double Dare.
Summer Sanders was a great Olympic swimmer and still very attractive. She tried to make a comeback for the '96 Games in Atlanta but narrowly missed a spot on the US team. I think she's better looking now than when she was competing since she no longer spends insane amounts of time training in chlorinated pool water.
Summer Sanders... good choice (BTW, since she's a professional sports reporter, I guess you could say she is dressed for her sport in these photos.)
