making shooting strings shorter

I have just finished stringing my head for the first time ( teamate did it the other times ) My shooting strings are too long, so how do i make them shorter? I know i have to cut them, but then wont they fray?

Any help is appreciated

cut them and the burn the tips where you cut it at

yeah when you burn the tips of the string after cutting them it prevents fraying

yea at the end burn the tips and keep the strings in the blue part of the flame so the ends dont turn black

make sure to lick your fingers before you pinch the string together to prevent burning yourself. Or you could use a wet paper towel or pliers or something, but I think it's easier just to pinch it.
