Led Zepplin is #2 right now, guns n roses has been number #1 for me for a year or so. Slash is my hero, so thats the main reason i love them. In new music, strokes, vines, anything non crappy metal (slipknot=crap) and nothing pop punk (so many i cant list just one). I hate current music, the world needs some great rock bands! not arena rock, not nirvana, an inbetween the two

Good list, all of them are great. In response to people who think bands like blink 182, nfg, and sum 41 are punk, please, listen to the ramones and the sex pistols. Joey Ramone said in an interview about punk (not an exact quote) "Nirvana may have had it, thats about it". Its fine if you like those bands, many people do (mostly retards) but please don't call them punk, they are the furthest thing from punk possible. The word punk has been used and abused and now is thought of as "pop with guitars and swearing". That isn't what punk was meant to be.

i like death cab, but that is it for emo.
i was on the verge of flipping out on a 10 year old yesterday.
i'm sitting at my 8 year old cousins birthday with my ramones t-shirt.
this kid comes up to me, know what he says? guess? he called says "you like them" "yes" then he says, "GC is punk" then he called a me a wanna be punk and the ramones posers.
he then goes into this rant about how playing real loud isn't punk.
am i missing something? cause last time i checked, not being the greatest musicians and sucky vocals is punk. AND you must be an ugly duckling.
For example: Joey Ramone

out of the early 90's the best band IMO would have to be Pearl Jam. I was never a big Nirvana fan, i just wasnt a huge fan of there sound in general. 10 might b one of my favorites (100), it is good from top to bottom.
Right now though im in an O.A.R. stage and im listnin to a lot of 60's and 70's stuff. Beatles, Doors, Clapton, cream, Stones, Dylan, Steve Miller band (had the joker stuck in my head for a week, does anyone know if pompidous is a real word?)... Idk im in to all different styles of music and i really dont only listen to just one Genre of music. The only thing i cant really stand is Pop and "coprate punk". Punk hasnt been really good or had any true punk bands since the pistols, the closest band IMO was green day and they werent 100% punk. Also one other thing i cant stand is people with a famous sibling or family trying to make an album just because it is cool and they think they can do it. And for people to actually pay attention to that crap is even worse.

The best band of the early '90's: NOT Radiohead. (Surprised, Enjoi?) I mean, they were "On a Friday" in the '80's, and stunk, and they weren't great until '94' when "My Iron Lung" was released to America. And now they rock. But Pearl Jam and Bush were the best of grunge. "Ten" from Pearl Jam and "Sixteen Stone" from Bush are both must-haves. I lost my "Sixteen Stone" cd. Sadly. Right now I have Corduroy stuck in my head. Also, Pearl Jam's Yield is an excellent album.

Modest Mouse was indie. Now that they are played on every pop station, and only "Float On", nothing that came out after 2004 for will ever be indie again from them. Let's see if they can make awesome songs again. Because their latest was not so awesome.

Other then that, Linkin Park, the Trews, the Used, AC/DC and a bit of everything.
I'm really starting to like a band from home called the Jollys. Local group, hardcore punk, not really my thing but I'm really liking them. -So many east coasters, and not one person has mentioned Ween. I'd consider myself a wierdo, and Ween requires an open mind, and a love for music. They really tear it up live, though.
-As far as punk goes, "London Calling" by the Clash is the best punk album, in my opinion.
Without The Clash, bands like RATM, Sublime, 311, and Green Day would not have the inspiration to fuse genres and forms of music. Read into it; it is true.

In my opinion Guerilla Radio is the most radio friendly/listener friendly song. Evil Empire was just so expiremental and radical, it just blew the doors off of their sound. The first album rules, EE is good, BOLA is decent, but it is the most listener friendly, and Live at the Grand Olympic is one reason why everyone should have seen RATM live, and Renegades is just baller. Most people didn't/don't even get most of the messages Zack was trying to convey to the listeners, and in the end that makes a good song and everything else just backs it up. End of story.

Dude, I own Paintin the Town Brown. I love Ween.

WOW. Sorry to be the downer, All you guys are "punks." Music from the 1990's - 2000's is just plain not groovy (Except for a few exceptions). They have no rhythm and all the songs sound alike (i.e. no change pf pace). So here are some toobular tunes. Jam bands mainly, they are just plain jammin'.

Any of you guys have vinyl? I have just about every great Vinyl album made including Tommy (The Who), Yes, all the way to Black Sabbath and Steppenwolf. Nothing like the sweet hissing sound of vinyl.
Definitely going to have to disagree with you about the '90's. Killer decade for music. I mean, we have killer indie bands popping up then and making amazing albums. The Flaming Lips' Soft Bulletin, Sigur Ros came from the late '90's, I'm quite sure (didn't Von come out in like '97?). At the Drive-In still blows me away. Jeff Buckley, come on, he was amazing. Modest Mouse was awesome, still is awesome. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, older Catherine Wheel, first Bush album, DJ Shadow was from the '90's if I remember correctly, Radiohead is the best. band. ever. and they're the best band of the '90's, the Pixies and My Bloody Valentine had good releases in the '90's especially Loveless. I think The Pixies were still going strong in the '90's. Smashing Pumpkins, Pavement, and a bunch of other bands. I mean, you can't discount an entire decade. There's a ton of amazing stuff from the '90's.

i hate punk but i'll defend it from these adolescent cry babies.
nfg and yellowcard are a whole different story than good charlotte. those bands know they arent really punk and they dont claim to be. good charlotte on the other hand is the worst band ever. so gay.

I know, Buckley's voice blows me away. And you can hear what Radiohead sort of took from Grace. I absolutely have fallen in love with his version of Hallelujah. I listened to OK Computer on the way home from work today. That was nice. I worked 14 hours today, kids. That's a lot. I worked from 8:00 AM until 1:30 AM with a 3.5 hour break in the middle. That's 14 hours, right?

Recently, a band called Broken Social Scene has been getting a ton of plays on my iPod. I bought their sophomore album, "You Forgot it in People." So excellent. I'm really excited for their next album that comes out the same day as Franz Ferdinand. Two of their songs, 7/4 (Shoreline) and Superconnected are available for download from blogs, and both are astoundingly awesome. Red Hot Chili Peppers are my favorite. their funky old stuff is best.
next up is definately Parliament/Funkadelic. they've put out over 30 albums. im trying to find/buy em all.
then probably Jamiroquai.
if you havent noticed, im into funk. not much of a fan of whats on the radio now.
Favorite ROCK band is Queens of the Stone Age. Again, their old stuff is best.

Lately it's been Wolf Parade, Broken Social Scene, Deerhoof, RJD2, Wilco and The Shins that have been dominating my playcount. Also a The Faint song called Call Call is really good. Blogs keep on posting songs from the BSS album, 7 so far, so I might assemble the whole thing legally and free. That'd be cool. I have 4 from the new Wolf Parade and Deerhoof albums too. And the other three, I have some of their albums. I love The Shins. Best indie pop band, hands down. Totally kills BSS in that category. Sure, BSS might make a more deep or whatever song, but The Shins make the best music for anybody to listen to, and it's more fun.

Wow, mega old. I remember trying to collect those albums. Ended up buying all of them and still listenin to them these days. Well, generally I've been listening to Sonic Youth and Modest Mouse all the time. Much love for those bands. I haven't been listening to any new bands very much. But I have fallen in love with Tiger Bear Wolf, the most rock and roll band out there these days.
