liz how did you conect the nylon to the leather in the "skinny corner" pocket
lizlax22
08-17-2003, 11:18 AM
if u check the close up pic of the channel of the "pick pocket" its the same way... insted of looping the string around once u do it twice... around the leather and over
bigDman
08-17-2003, 11:26 AM
ok cool
im thinking of doing the "skinny corner" pocket
lizlax22
08-17-2003, 11:31 AM

Great sticks. I think im gonna try the pick pocket. How do you make the twists? Same as a coil except loose and spread out. ALso the channel is it just wrap around leather through loop to other side repeat process till your done? And for my final question how is the whip on it?
lizlax22
08-17-2003, 01:22 PM
the twists, unlike a coil, don't wrap around itself u just twist it as if its 2 strings. try this...
go under the first leather then go over the next
then wrap the sting around itself making sure to get the leather and not to skip it... look at some of the close ups it'll make it easier to understand
as for the channel, the nylon goes arond the leather like normal but its done twice... go around the leather and over the nylon then under the first lop u just made go around the leather and over the nylon
the whip? no whip here but u can make it with whip no problem if thats what u want but hate whip... if u look at the pic where the channel isn't compleat yet:
http://thumbs.webshots.com/s/thumb4/1/48/82/86014882hLwHaq_th.jpg
u can see that the leathers are farther apart towards the scoop, now if u lok at the pic with the channel:
http://thumbs.webshots.com/s/thumb4/1/52/11/86015211rDdXUb_th.jpg
u can now see that the leathers are closer at the scoop and wider at the center... what this does is keep the stringing by the top of the head tight making a nice smooth release and it gets looser (if thats a word) as it goes down to where the ball sits... this makes the shooting strings life a little easier

hmmm... i wonder if ben would want to put this on his site ; )

how much material do you need for the pick pocket because i would like to try it (i mainly just need to know the measurements)
brett95lax
08-20-2003, 01:46 PM
of the nylon that is
lizlax22
08-22-2003, 06:56 PM
hmmmm... measurements... i guess i should start to do that... on the pick pocket i realy don't measure since i string with stuff thats in bulk so i just pull it off the spool and cut it but what i do know it is more string than whats in a normal traditional stringing kit... the skinny corner is only like a foot and a 1/2 on each side and i had extra
bigDman

do ethir of the pockets have a quick relesse
lizlax22
08-22-2003, 07:08 PM
the way i have them strung the skinny corner has a quiker release but like any other stick it can be adjusted and the pick pocket has about the same if not a little slower... the skinny corner throws a little higher than the pinch pocket but again, that can be changed
bigDman
08-22-2003, 07:19 PM
ok cool i think im going to do a quasar varation
lizlax22
08-22-2003, 07:20 PM

damn those are sweet. the dye job is sick and the stringings are awesome. you should put them on laxnation. very nice. i have one question. is that just a regular green, cause it looks so cool.
lizlax22
08-25-2003, 05:13 PM

2 questions, which do you like better-triton or Nitrous, and then which stringing of yours do you like better????
lizlax22
08-30-2003, 04:55 PM
i like the pick pocket a littel better but thats b/c of the increase in hold it has over the skinny corner and the nitrouse is a great head for picking the corners and the triton is a great all around head so its tough to say which i faver more

where do you pick up this dye at?

I may be a bit late here, but the stick to the right in the first pic seems like it would be an awesome shooting head. The one to the left looks like the ball could eventually squirt through...don't know if I like that one....
BTW, does anyone have any good D-head string jobs? I'm not good at stringing yet, but I would like to see what I can do with my stick...as I grow in this sport!

the pick pocket looks like a variation of a rock-it pocket......i really like it tho so once i finish pinching my wizard n get some new leathers, im gonna try to pull it off.
lizlax22
09-14-2003, 02:13 PM
the channel in the pick pocket and the rock-it-pocket are the same
CHMiddie
09-14-2003, 03:49 PM
same with the outside of it with the twisti's it jus doesnt have the saddle.
lizlax22
09-14-2003, 04:32 PM
hmmm... looking at a pic now i see that it is vary similar... almost to similar... might have to make some changes... butu i got some ideas for a whole new pocket for my matrix when i get around to it
CHMiddie
09-14-2003, 04:54 PM
Thank you for putting the pick pocket up tho....ive been thinking of getting a rock-it pocket. but seeing how you did it, i think ill just do that pocket. then i get more glory n a renewed title of having the best pocket on my team (im like the only kid that can string) i was gonna buy a rock-it pocket cuza that saddle. i guess ya dont need it tho.
bigDman
09-14-2003, 06:54 PM
to do the saddle do what liz did but closer togther
CHMiddie
09-15-2003, 06:18 PM
no its not.....not that at all. at camp a friend of mine had a rocket pocket n it was very complicated. they string all the outside with one string n then the channel all together. the saddle u gotta do something then rap around.....to confusing n complicated for my taste.
lizlax22
09-15-2003, 07:00 PM
i know exactly what u are talking about... i've tried, over the past day or so, to look at the pics to see how it is done but i can't see it well enough... frustrating
Reinholds
09-15-2003, 07:01 PM
yeah ill stick to the easy mesh's to string monster mesh and stuff
Reinholds
09-15-2003, 07:03 PM
i think that those special string jobs look cool, and prolly have their benefits, but i think ill stick to the mesh, because it serves the same purpose and its simple enough for me to fix it in the field instead of having to send it to someone when you mess it up.
CHMiddie
09-16-2003, 05:20 PM
that saddle....a kid at camp was teachin me how to do it....i still cant remember. o well...

09-17-2003, 04:10 PM

Reinholds
09-19-2003, 12:33 PM
what is the saddlke
CHMiddie
09-19-2003, 05:56 PM
if u look at a rock-it pocket, on the bottom of the channel there is all this string. its dun really wierd. thats the saddle.
CMHlax06
09-22-2003, 11:01 PM
it's supposedly there so the ball sits in the saddle when u cradle one handed. I havent really looked at a rocket-pocket's saddle closely b/c it didnt ever look that hard to duplicate. I'll have to look at my friend's sometime.

who cares if it's an old thread. You're the one who said on the suggestions forum that we should have a way of organizing things so that people don't have to make the same posts over and over, so instead of making another thread, they made a post here. You should be happy.
LatinBabe
03-08-2004, 12:11 PM
I am... it made me see liz! lol.
no, im happy that things have come up about this again instead of starting a new thread. what made me say that was how joey must have been digging deep into the archives to find a thread that has been retired 4 months ago. :agree
