I searched the boards before I posted and saw some discussion about mesh that is used to distract shooters. My question though is on the high school level (JV/Varsity) would you say that a neon mesh would be distracting to a shooter? I realize some shooters would not get distracted but does anyone have any personal experience and how has it worked out for you?

Please share.

Are you talking about from a defensive view? If you are it would probably just be a waist...I know it's not to a goalie because with colorful mesh and a white ball they can watch it out the whole way.

and that's why we can't have colored mesh :(

There's no agreed upon answer, and I know there was a debate about this earlier. The two main ideas are that:

1. the attacker will see your neon/ugly stick and, and his eyes will be so attracted to it that he will automatically shoot into your stick.

OR

2. the attacker will see your neon/ugly stick, and he will know where not to shoot.

I personally think unmatching colored mesh is ugly. Team colors or white only please.

I think he means neon mesh in the goalie's stick to distract the shooter and make them shoot at the stick. Some goalies think this works, others do not. A really good shooter should not even be looking at the goalie, but at the high school level it probably works at least occasionally.

Yeah somrandomguy hit what I was talking about on the spot.

Id probably be using neon yellow, it goes best with forest green, black, and white.

the most distracting thing for a shooter is the goalie himself... I don't think i have ever noticed a goalie's stick.. I tend to look at things like their chest, or head; of course not on purpose... ... those seem to be the most distracting.... the most difficult thing for a shooter to do is to focus on the net behind the goalie... so i guess that means that you should use whatever edge you think you have or can get... although it won't fool the good goal scorers...

I use neon green mesh, i did it more for fun, then for anyother kinda use. If they get distracted by it, great. Its just a stick, you should have fun with it and customize it to whatever you want.

i've used neon mesh before, and i honestly don't think it has much effect, i'd probably argue otherwise with a helmet, however (i get more head saves then i'd like to)
