I couldnt find any thing on this,

Do you use arm guards awhile playing goalie ? If you do, does it slow you down ?

I still use them, but im thinking of not using them, I can tell that most of college goalies don't use them.

I am just worried that the ball will hit my arms.

any input ?

You're worried the ball will hit your arms? Maybe you should find another position man; no offense, but you shouldn't be worried about getting hit, being that that's part of your job.

And no, I don't wear arm guards and actually don't know anybody who does.

ever thinkl their for when he go out of the crease? try no to be such a meany( i was gonna use another word but its not allowed). I wore them my first game just to get confidence then i took them off. i'll still wear one when i got a sore arm or when i want to physc out the other team and make them i have an injury to my strong side.

I don't wear arm guards. I thought they were annoying when I played attack. I can barely move my arms, and I don't think I could move to shots as fast.

The only arm guards I ever use are sweatbands, and thats only if I know I'll play defense later that game.

the only time ive ever worn an arm pad was i used the mcdavid hex pad on my fore arm over a brace because i pulled a tendon and had a huge bruise there, and i didnt want to injure it anymore. i dont wear any other wise, and i dont know anyone that wears them. i also agree with jtowne and laxgoalieking, play as it should be played.

and your obviously going to be hit in the arms...in your goalie career you will probably be hit in every major aparatus of your body.

I'm a "meany" at heart, sorry to break it to you. If you wana wear arm pads, then expect to be criticized for it from time to time.

Arm pdas only really cover the outside of your arms and elbows. If you're facing the ball the inside of your arms are most likely to be hit. So it doesn't even protect the part of the arm that is most likely to take a shot. Ditch the arm pads, you'll be faster for it.

I don't wear any arm protection, nor would I recommend them. Not because I think you have to be the macho goalie that can deal with pain and like it, but because it can be really tight on your arms, which I think ges annoying, plus it completely limits mobility and it's not so easy to save the ball, which is what you should be mostly concerned about.

Once you get rid of them, you'll find that shots will be easier to save. but if you feel comfortable wearing them, then by all means go crazy

I wore full hockey goalie uppers in my first ever lacrosse season. Yes I was scared. It really does slow you down. If it helps you to boost your confidence, then wear em. A confident goalie will be much better then a goalie who is afraid of the ball.

I would lose the arm pads but that will be up to you. I was afraid of how much it would hurt but if you ask any goalie here, they will tell you that once you start playing, you will forget about what you are wearing. If that ball hits you, you will only feel a short amount of pain and you will not be bothered by it. Trust us!

I just start to wear are guards just because our coach made us run sooo many slap check drills and it started to get annoying. I bought a pair of STX Stingers ($25) and their nice, they don't hold me back

if you wear arm pads everyone will call you a baby and a noob which will really hurt your intimidation factor

the only time i have ever worn arm guards (and this was due to the fact that i preferred mobility over the slight protection i gained from them and not because i was worried about what people would say) was when i recieved a rather viscious (sp?) check to the elbow in the first game of a double header and had to wear a small armguard for the next three or four games... turned out it had chipped my elbow and i had 5 - 10 small fragments floating around in there (by the way, its one of those injuries where you go: "What was i doing?")

thanks for all the replies,

i ended up not using my arm guards right after the replies and Oh boy how much mobility it allows you.

I wasnt actualy scared to get hurt in the arms, I just didnt wanna have to suffer as much. but I realize after not using them is that U barely get hit there.

Its basically just a confidence thing

yeah the arms pads shouldn't protect you from shots but i do run out of the goal (even scored against a crappy team) and only really smart attack guys will PURPOSELY hit your arms just to make sure you don't run out of the goal again
