after watching lacrosse on tv and just now seeing a vid on stx.com/k18 i seen that before a shot the shooter twists the stick alot behind his back sort of. some what like a base ball player does with his bat before hitting. is this just another form of cradling?

yea its basically your wind-up you do it with small cradles like right before you pass

Yeah it's part of the wind-up, most people do it. Its just to make sure that the ball is in the right part of the pocket.

and is there a special teqniwue to doing it? or is it just something you learn over time

I used to do that but I would start from my head and work the stick behind me to get leverage doing that fast cradle thingy, but a good D-man will just put you on the ground. Depends on the situation I guess.
