Can anyone suggest a good, reasonably priced goalie stick for a 12 year old? I am coaching a youth program and have a 6th grader that has been playing goalie for the past two years. He has been using the programs sticks, but his parents want to buy him his own. I really know nothing about goalie sticks, but want to give them some ideas...
Any suggestions?

I would suggest either a a stx eclipse, stx goalmaster, or a warrior abyss 2.0.
I really dont know to much about shafts but the warrior kryptolyte is a realiable shaft.
All though that will still run you over one hundred dollars. Is the price range just cheap, or is their a certain amount?

They did not really give me a dollar amount. I just wanted to give them options, and did not want to start off with recommending a $200 option. I see that a lot of the on-line sites have the Eclipse for around $100 with the standard STX Alloy shaft. Looks like if they want a decent stick, that might be the low end, and then can go up from there adding a different handle.

The Gait Web is an excellent head with a very big save area. You can pick up complete sticks for at or below one hundred dollars. The STX Goalmaster was a great first stick for my son. Not too heavy. The only thing that I don't like about complete goalie sticks is the shafts are a little heavier and generally last years poorest selling staft.
In the end I know that my son had no idea what I paid or who endorsed his first stick, he was just completely freaked to own one of his own.

My 13 year old loves her Nemesis with STX alloy shaft; about $110 bucks or so. It is light-weight, just the right stiffness in the head and well balanced. It came "factory-strung".
Any chance for your goalie to try a few sticks before making a purchase? This is such a personal preference that trying a few sticks may make a lot of sense and save a bunch of money on a mistake...

I would suggest a STX Eclipse. The Eclipse I got was only $90 with shaft and a mesh from Dick's Sporting Goods. I, personally, would not get a Gait Web because those are used more in box lacrosse for some reason. The Nemesis is good, but after 5 months, I broke it from clamping the ball down in the crease. If he wants to get really fancy with the goalie stick, I would also suggest stringing 12-diamond mesh on the goalie stick. It throws like a charm and cradles like no other.
