Hey fellow Metal Gear fans! Is there an official release date otu there for MGS4: GOTP? Also does anyone know if the rumor that it will be released for X-Box 360 is true?

A lot of my friends has Xbox 360s and I've been thinking baout getting one, but I'm worried that if MGS4 is released for the Xbox, that Hideo Kjima will do another one of his 'Substance Versions' Like with Integral, Substance, or Subsistence, and release it for only PS3, although if you pre-ordered subsistnce and got the 'Metal Gear Legacy Disc,' then he says that he just wants to explaint he story then reitire. It said he was 'rallied by Metal Gear fans around the globe', which is hilarious, because a lot of people were sending him death threats, haha!

If it was released for the 360 that would be pretty cool, although I'm still faithful to Sony.

Update: Woah! This suggest that it's not I guess, he says he want's to be first with system development: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/676/676685p1.html

I can't wait for it to come out. The MGS series has always been one of my favorites. There's not official release date yet, which really sucks but it will be worth the wait. If it doesn't launch for 360 I'm sure it will be realeased later as one of the "Substance" type deals.

Yeah, it's a great game. I hope they're gonna lower the price of the PS3 in time for it's release. But I've lost sleep over wondering what's gonna happen in it next! I beat it on New Year's Eve and it kept me goin through the New Year, but the next day I couldn't sleep, that last line totally freaked me out:

Otacon: They're all dead.
Snake: What?! When did they die?
Otacon: About a hundred years ago!
Snake: What the hell?!

I'm guessing that they had a fool proof plan, planned out so well that they knew it would work no matter what so here's what I'm thinking:

- It's gotta tie in with what they say MGS stands for:

Memes (Metal Gear Solid 3:Snake Eater/Subsistence)
Genes (Metal Gear Solid 1: Original/Integral/The Twin Snakes)
Scenes (Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty/Substance)

(Hey look! they're all in order!)

Memes ties in with Genes, and since Big Boss is listed as a character, it probably involves him. And this has to tie in with the Patriot's plan, theres probably a big piece missing from the story that involves Big Boss, maybe following up the story that there were 8 original Snakes (The survivors were Solid Snake, Liquid Snake, and Solidus Snake, though there could have been others, which would make for a cool addition to the plot!) and maybe Big Boss was even Solidus! Who knows?

Genes must be talking about what 'The Sons of Big Boss' inherited from him, and how their abilities differed, like Liquid Snake, being the superior Snake (You don't find this out unless you listen to the phone conversation after the credits, between Ocelot and 'Mr. President,' who turns out to be George Sears, a.k.a. Solidus Snake.). And to tie into the Patriot's plan, as I said before, they must have had a plan planned out so well that they knew it would work. They could have looked at traits of select people, and then planned out events that led them to meet each other and have children, for example, Raiden was chosen for the S3 Plan, and they had kidnapped Olga's baby, so they have known where the baby would be, and how to set it up so he was taken and hidden, and they must also know who the Father of Olga's child is, which raises another question.

Scenes probably refers to the Cell Processor, a.k.a. 'The Key To Winning The Console War,' that Otacon talks about in the second trailer for MGS4, being the first one to show actual scenes from the game. 'Scenes' came form the fact that the cut scenes from MGS2 are so long. The Cell Processor will make for superior graphics, so scenes can tie into this. Senes could also refer to the storyline, we have Solid, Liquid and Solidus, but wouldn't a cool addition to the storyline be that there were other survivors of 'The Terrible Children,' possibly named Gaseous Snake, or Plasma Snake. Just a thought!
And of course, this will tie up the story completely, and unveil the Patriot's plan, so these will be the best 'Scenes' yet!

Oh my god, MGS4 is so sick...I've been playing it so much these past few days. PS3 was definitely worth buying for this game.
The story behind the game is so good, it's almost like watching a movie and playing a video game at the same time.
The only thing that I dislike is that you don't really have just one enemy, like in the previous MGS games, where basically you knew who you had to kill, like the guards and whatnot. It makes sneaking around so much harder, so much that you need to actually use automatic weapons to mow down the PMCs.
I can't believe that this is the last game of the series. I guess that they put everything that they possibly could to tie off the lose ends from the other games. All I have to say is that the story line brings in a bunch of flashbacks from MGS1, MGS2, and MGS3, so playing those would definitely help you understand the plot a lot better, and you would enjoy it more as well. Also, I like the new gun customization, and how you can buy ammo for a gun on the spot because I get a little trigger happy at points, and then I run out of ammo, so knowing that I could get some clips from Drebin is always cool.

Oh and I won't post any spoilers. At least on purpose.

i want it so bad but i need money for canada and mesh. and i need new goalie pants. so ill have to wait for like mid july. life sucks. and if it comes out for ps3 there goes all the leverage of games that the ps3 has. we would have to use jak and daxter as our signature game.

i think i will buy it and hold off on mesh. im so excited for tomorrow now. is it worth selling cod4 over? im almost done with the online

raiden looks so sick with the sword and the ninja suit. can you play as him? i loved the character of gray fox in the original MGS and i always wanted to play as him (in the story mode, not the stupid VR missions thing). i liked how they made the character of naomi as gray fox's adopted sister and how she engineered the FOXDIE to kill snake (both of them) in MGS1 to get back at solid snake for trying to kill gray fox in metal gear 2 (if any of you remember, it was hand-to-hand combat in a minefield...totally BA). however, i don't like how liquid snake's personality somehow lives on in his hand and takes over ocelot's body at certain points in MGS2. i further dislike how the 2 personalities merge to form liquid ocelot in MGS4, but i haven't played the game yet, so i'll hold judgement on that for now.

as for the patriots (or the la-li-lu-le-lo), wikipedia says the original founders were major zero, big boss, ocelot, EVA, sigint, and para-medic. sigint turns out to be the DARPA chief and para-medic is dr. clark, the one who made gray fox into the cyborg ninja. by the time MGS4 rolls around in the whole metal gear timeline, major zero is in a vegetative state and the patriots are 4 computer AI's: GW (george washington), JA (john adams), TJ (thomas jefferson), and JM (james madison), all controlled by a 5th proxy JD (john doe). this just makes things that much more convoluted and i hope the game ties off all the loose ends adequately.

I beat the game a few hours ago, and I must say that this game has got to be the best game out of the whole saga. It ties in everything good about every game in the series.

There has to be another MGS...there has to be...or I have no need to play video games anymore...Hopefully it's Raiden in the new game, or maybe they should have it as another clone of Big Boss, or Snake, so that the game can go on.

Does anyone else think that the cutscenes are a little bit long? I beat the actual game at 9:20, and then watched cutscenes for over an hour, and then fought liquid/ocelot, then watched more cutscenes for another 50 minutes.

I got a question about the previous MGS, at the end of the game when your in the helicopter about to shoot ocelot in the face, i missed btw, can you actually kill him because it apperears he is in this next game

lax21goalie2008

You don't kill him, there was only blanks in the gun, so it doesn't kill him. If you did kill him in MGS3, there would be a time paradox because he was in MGS, MGS2, and now in MGS4. Remember, Ocelot (ADAM) grew to be great friends with Big Boss, so they worked together to bring down Zero and the Patriots.

I don't know if you tried to kill Ocelot early in the game, when you rescue Sokolov for the first time, and when you kill him, it would come up with TIME PARADOX across the screen like SNAKE IS DEAD or MISSION FAILED because you needed Ocelot.

Does anyone feel like giving a quick overview on the MGS series. Like really brief? I ried to google it, but didn't understand anything.

I thought it was just a FPS realistic shooter like COD, but then I saw like aliens or un-human figures?

lax21goalie2008

There's really no aliens, its more unmanned machinery and paranormal humans. It's more like Splinter Cell meets COD4.

Hit up wikipedia for an overview. Just read the plots on MGS, MGS2, and MGS3, and you should be good.

This is kind of a big thing to ask but I have played and loved all the metal gear games, I really want to play this one and see how the story ends but don't have a ps3 and cannot buy one because there are other things consuming my money at the moment and for the rest of the foreseeable future, mainly school. So if some who has beat the game pretty please pm me a short summary I will be in debt to you for ever

Thanks

Longest. Cutscenes. Ever.

Or at least if felt like it. I must have watched a good 4 hours of cutscenes playing that game.

Exactly, that's why it took me 11 hours to beat the game. Now I'm going to beat it on normal and skip all the cutscenes and see how long it takes.

ahahaha, i saw a developer overview of the game and it is more awesome than i thought it would be. you can disguise yourself as a drum barrel and roll into people and then snake gets out and pukes all over the place, and when shaking down enemies you can twist their nutsack to take them out. pure awesomeness...
