Well, as many of you may know, I am from Alabama where lax isn't very popular, and I'm trying to get as many of my friends into it as possible, and maybe form some kind of team. I have already gotten one friend into it and he now has a stick. How can I get more of my friends into it?Give me some suggestions, please.:bye

Well im guessing your going to need an adult be the coach and then just get as many kids that you can get to go to a field or something and go through a lot of general things about lacrosse and see how many kids would wanna start a team

-Petition a local college team to give a free clinic.
-Ask your gym teacher to demonstrait BOYS LACROSSE (playing glax may turn the guys off to the sport forever)
-Be seen in public/by school/parks with your stick playign catch, doing stick tricks, playing wallball, ect. I was in the city (hoboken, nj) and a few people came up and asked what I was doing (wallball) and asked about the sport. Its such a great feeling turning people onto the game.
-Pop in a college rivals game on VHS next time friends are over on a boring day, like the 2004 d1 finals Navy/Cuse game. It was intense.

you just named every college in alabama too.
what is the big sport in alabama right now (exludin c ock fighting:agree )? get the kids that aren't that good at that sport to come play lax. chances are they're probably not having that much fun sitting on the bench.

its not like lax is that big in florida either
but the best way is to do with that guy from nj does.. just play around with it in areas people will see it (thats how i found out about it). the videos will seem boring to someone who has never played lax before, and trust me on that.

tell any of your friends that play football that it is a contact sport. I am sure it will draw atleast a few. that is partly what drew me to the game, even though lacrosse is not meant to be played like football, it will get some of them interested enough to find out more about the sport hopefully.

Lacrosse is made up of football and soccer players.. just make them realize that there is no better sport than lacrosse and they will change sports...

Ask the gym coach or your school to teach lacrosse in gym.
We had the school buy about a hundred fiddlesticks and we played womens lacrosse rules but still a ton of kids joined.
The hard part is to actually get them to play. If they play even once they'll be hooked

lacrosse is more addictive then crack
i know a kid who just threw with one of my sticks once and wants to find a club to play on
just about every one who touches a stick gets hooked

every single person ive gotten to at least watch a game or throw with a stick is now either playing or watches it all the time. including weekly with the MLL right now. it isnt hard. id say get a group together first, play pick up games with each other, and go from there.
Hey con head, I think your sig is too big.

1. Be visibile with the stick, especially where people are active, like in a park where people run & play softball etc.
2. Talk to someone at Bama's club & see if they can come to your school & give a demonstration. You never know - maybe they have a player that is looking to get into education & they could pair up with your P.E. teacher & make it part of the P.E. cirriculum for a day.
3. Isn't Tuscaloosa reasonably close to Birmingham? I'd contact the Birmingham youth lax league & see if they know of anyone in Tuscaloosa. Or even the post-collegiate team in Birmingham (Magic City).
Bama's team? (http://eteamz.active.com/alabamalacrosse/index.cfm?)
BYLL (http://www.byll.org/)
Magic City club (http://eteamz.active.com/mclax/)
Good luck!

No offense...MLL is too boring to get you hooked. I play lacrosse and I can barely sit through an MLL game. Especially down south where most people have no idea about lacrosse, they're gonna say "Lacrosse is hella boring."
