long story as short as possible: my brothers ipod got stolen from me (i was borrowing it) 3 weeks ago. "a friend" is now sporting a new ipod matching its model, size, and color. its obvious its my brothers. he even plugged it into our teachers computer. guess what the name on it was? my brothers. his story: "thats my cousins name too. he gave it to me, he is getting a new one that holds more." its obviously very pathetic. i would just whoop his , but degrating (sp?) him as a proven thief seems more appealing to me and deserving on his part. THE POINT OF THIS THREAD (finally): ive still have the box with some labels/numbers on it. does anyone know if i can match these numbers on the actuall ipod to prove him wrong on monday?

do you know if it matches the one on the box? (is this a stupid question?)

Yeah, the number is somewhere on the box if it's one of the older models i think. The non color 20g i had before had the number that matched the one on the back of the ipod on the box label. Same goes for my new 30g video. The label is on one of the skinny sides of the box I guess you could call it the bottom?

yep. its actually a nano. not one of the new color ones... one of the first ones. i see the label with a "serial sumber", "model number", and a "part number". im sure one of these, if not all, will match something on the actual ipod.

I believe the serial number of the iPod also matches up with the one registered on iTunes, so you could try that...

sweet. cant wait until monday. i didnt mention that the kid even went into a matter of our friendship to convince me otherwise that its not mine. "cmon dude, we're like best friends. why would i steal it from you?" its pathetic how selfish some people are...

I would have took it right out of his hands next time I saw it and brought it home and verified it was mine. It seems that you are very sure that it is your brothers and he is defintley lying. So just take it back.

i had black oakley scars that i bough from Gailons in Salt Lake City. stolen from me when i played baseball, i left them on a table and then went to go get something and they were gone. Next day i see this kid with the exact same ones and i ask him where he got and he was like uhhh uhh i got them on vacation. so i asked where and he saidf he got them as a gift, so now i knew he was lying and he hada rep as a thief and a weasel but was a mommas boy so i couldnt ask for them back because he would just tell his mom and say they were his. so i hatched a plan to get them back but then i found out he ruined by messing up the lense and bending the frame. and what really pissed me off was that the kid was really rich and could have easily bought a pair(big pool, putting green and hitting cage in backyard)
sorry for the paragraph
but yea i understand where your comin from, just dont be really mean until you make sure its your bros becuase if its not then you look like an idiot and you just ruined a friendship

this is actually pretty funny because my friends iPod was stolen last yr, he saw a kid with it and asked the kid and the kid starting running. My friend yelled to me that that kid has his iPod and i tripped him and took it then pinned him down until security came.

well as if i didnt get more in-depth with the story enough... i noticed a lot of you talking about the possibility of it not being mine along with him being a friend. yes he is --well, was-- a friend, rather a good one too. ive known him three years and have several classes with him, so thats why it comes as a shock to me also. the thing is though, he actually has a nicer ipod (30g vid). what complicates matters is that everyone knows he likes this girl in one of our classes, who happened to be borrowing the ipod because hers got thrown into the wash prior to mine going missing. and i hadnt even heard about his "new" ipod or her borrowing it until the day it was plugged into my teachers computer because she needed it charged and my teacher questions "who's brendan?" (my brother's name/"his cousins" name). so i have a reason along with the same name, same color, same model, same memory... but i guess there is a small room of uncertainy... but thats a lot of irony. so yeah i hope the added irony and details clear up doubts about my suspicions. and also show reasoning as to why a friend would do this. i guess its not "bros b4 hoes" with him

have you truly confronted him?

yes, in fact i didnt even know about his new ipod until the teacher asked about the name. i assumed it was the girls all along (she had put her old case on it). when she told the teacher it was my friend's cousin's (apparently he told her the same story), i confronted him on the spot. thats when he gave me the BS story and the "why would i do that, we're friends" speech. this was all on friday

dude show him the evidence, and embarass him, he knows he did something wrong, and just let him down slowly. He'll realize it's not worth it to lose a friendship over that.

yep, thats the plan. got the serial number and everything ready for monday. im almost pitying him. ive told most of the class, who immediately agreed with me and assured me that i would get it back. i talked to the girl. she feels bad for borrowing it from him and is pissed at him. but a thief is a thief and they are right up there with liars on my list. both of which hes showing.

I wouldn't be too bent on humiliating him, I'd be pretty mad at him too, but don't sink to his level. Stuff liek this happens between friends, like in 3rd grade, I had a friend who stol my two favorite Dragon Ball Z action figures, I got real mad and he was really sorry, but then the year after that, he stole two of my rarest Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. My Mom found out whne she overheard me yelling at him on the phone, and she called his Mom, so he never did it again. And today, him and I are best friends.
So, do something to teach your friend a lesson, but don't try to humiliate him. If that girl gets mad at him, then he'll know that he shouldn't od it again. So if he's your friend, just try and teach him a lesson, but don't stoop to his level and try to ruin his life over this.

SO do the numbers match up?
Jayhawks13
04-02-2007, 07:59 PM
haha he "forgot" to bring it to school today. i was dtermined to get this back, so i drove over after school before lax practice. he tried to even say "look different songs" as if he couldnt have just changed them himself :/ but yeah, the numbers matched, he was pretty quiet about it and i was in a rush to get to practice anyways. school tomorrow should be fun considering a lot of people at school think is an interesting story and have been asking me about it.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
If he's willing to steal a big-ticket item like an iPod, are you willing to trust him ever again?

ive got an entire foot along with atleast 50 pounds on the kid. lol and im only 5'10", 150. (im not exaggerating). the kid is a sophomore and plays on our freshman hockey team. that may not seem too funny, but let me tell you who else is on this team. 2 6th graders, several 7th and 8th graders, 2 or 3 freshmen, and him. i already feel bad enough for the kid
