work for it. make saves. win games. thats about all you can do if you have issues with that.

Demand their respect, you are the quarterback of the defense. Even if they don't like you, if you get in the cage make good saves and lead the defense to where they need to be they will respect you. They'll have to.
But you gotta give respect to get it, so don't look down on your team. You lead with respect they'll follow with respect.

dont forget about practice...if u slack at practice, they will look down on you...that is primarily where respect and trust is earned

I feel like i am respected by my team but it gets very disheartening when it seems like your team doesnt try hard even when your down alot. Today we ended up losing to Princeton HS 16-2. I still had 22 saves but our offense just got scared and stopped trying or something. Then eventually the defense just collapsed and i got lit up. It sucks to lose but it sucks even more when not everyone is trying there hardest. To me thats very disrespectful.

yeah i hate that too, like when my team was up 12-0 my team quit on me and i had to make 22 saves and the score was 12-2 by the end of the game cause everyone just quit

Well...Me and like one other JV guy were playing around/passing with a bunch of varsity guys (mostly seniors). And they make me get in goal with no pads on...And I take a shot to the side of the head by one of them...(A pretty hard shot too) And all i did was sort of stagger it off. I got some for that. Also...Just make some good/big saves. I DO NOT recommend trying what I said. It hurts/gives concussions.

respect is an off feild thing, if ur a goalie, u get respect becaouse of ur commands and leadership in the cage. but if ur team gives up on u, its not you, its them, they dont deserve to be on the feild if they dont play hard, as a team.

Work harder than everyone in practice. Stay late. Make saves in games. Win. Make a ballsey move by taking on an attackman once in a while. Command your defence and call out where the ball is. Practice with your teammates doing some of their drills and then do your own. Do all you can and in the end, they will respect you. After all, do any of them have the balls to get in the net and take shots on them?
