well today as we were out streches right after our 2 lap warm-ups i just collapsed. i came back about 2 seconds later. all i remember is my heart pounding really hard and then it just stopped. everything went black and i woke up on the ground with dirt in my mouth. 2 of the players next to me asked me if i was ok and helped me to go get some water but as soon as they brought me to the water he was like guys get bak. i believe this happened becaause i wasnt hydrated enough even tho i had 2 bottles of propel an houur before practie. well i have 2 coaches. one wasnt there. the other just stood there and did nothing. didnt say a word or anthing. didnt even ask if i was ok or even say anyhitng to me until the end of practice. the only other time he spoke to me was wen i wabbled over to him asking him what to do and he said just go sit down. now this concerns me becausewen someone passes out being the coach u should probably do somthing. now this happened at around 2ish and i havent told my parents yet which is a mistake but i dont know what to do so i need help guys! btw i am fine now but im just a little worried beacuse of the coaaches neglection towards what happend.
Please only discuss how to solve the situation with the coaches. DO NOT offer medical advice.

for a start spread more water out over a longr time period so your body can absorb it all, and prolly should talk to a trainer.

See a health professional. You may have suffered a consusion and not know it or something more severe! Even seeing your school nurse is better then nothing if an athletic trainer is not available.

I think this thread is more directed towards his coach's lack of reaction to what happened.

I have gone to hospitals about that same problem.
When your heart is pounding so hard that you kno somthing might happen lay down and put your legs up so the blood may come to your head and heart.
You might feel weird just randomly laying down but you'll feel weirder if you wake up from being past out and everyones around you.
Trust me laying down and putting your legs up pumps blood to the important places that you need

I don't care what people say, sports drinks are stupid, they are packed with sodium (salt) and are only effective if you drink them while you are playing. If not they are just added calories. Stick to water and you won't get dehydrated. A concussion is a possibility, so is a brain tumor, but most likely it is less severe because your body was working when it happened. If you passed out randomly in class (boredum is no excuse) I would say it is something more serious. I have seen people pass out because they saw their own blood, but just incase consult with someone more proffesional then lax forumers. Drink water...

I had a friend die last summer at a practice due to something similair. He collapsed out of nowhere and they couldn't revive him. He was always in great shape, and was a 3 sport athlete. The last person you would expect to have anything happen to.
Turns out he had a family history of heart problems, and had a heart attack on the field. Not saying that was what you suffered, but the other key part in his case was that he put on 75 pounds of muscle in the year since I had seen him. Alot of people figured it was steroids or something that could have damaged his heart. Not to accuse you of doing something like that, but I would reconsider any drug/vitamin/enhancement supplement you have used in the past few days, and see if it could have possibly done something to you. Especially the part that you said you had an accelerated heart rate. I would definately see a professional. And shame on your coach for a lack of sense to do something. It would have been a shame for him if anything were to have happened to you.

I DO NOT think this is simply dehydration. You need to talk with your parents right away and see a cardiologist asap. This could be something very serious. If not, fine, and you have that assurance. But if something is wrong, you need to know right away.

Well now I'm curious, yesteryday during practice everytime I started running I got extremely light headed, I drink a ton of water almost everyday and I was just wondering if this could be close to the same thing?
Also, I think this belongs in the lacrosse instructions tacticts and training area...

You should tell your parents about what happened and what the coaches reaction was.
Then go to a doctor.

Shouldn't your coaches have a first aid and CPR certification. Or at least have a trainer on the field?? Your coach really should have done more for you, tell your parents im sure they will follow up with the school who will then figure out why your coach did nothing for you.

go tell your parents, go to a doctor, if it was at all serious go with your parents and talk to your school and then talk to the coach with the school (a set up meeting). If it wasn't too serious, you should just go walk up to your coach and talk to him man to man and tell him whats up. Good luck, hope your okay.

I would make sure the coach was aware of the seriousness of the situation. If he wasnt fully aware of what was going on, then the problem could be either with him for not paying attention or with you for not expressing what was going on after the fact.

Do you and your teammates like your coach? Is he a good coach? If not screw him, get him in trouble...he deserves it.

Well, i agree with deadweight on the subject of "sports drinks". They are rubbish. Water ftw. It's cheaper, and has less rubbish in it that you have no idea how it will affect you.
I would say get yourself checked out at a doctors, and then as czechinthepipes says, address the situation regarding it's seriousness. ie. chat to the coach if he's approachable and it wasn't a big deal, but if it is, talk to the school. Even if you didn't have a injury of some sort this time, he needs to be sorting this kind of stuff out, ie. running over etc. In America do coaches need some sort of first aid experience? I think we have to in this country...so he should have reacted in SOME way.

i would talk to the coach about the situation, you coach might have not been totally worried because he saw that you were fine afterwards

Its just an overload of stress usually if you don't have any other medical conditions. My friend passed out/sort of seizured during his social studies presentation and he never had one of these in his life ever. His knees started buckling and he had a blank stare. It was for like 1 or 2 min max and by the time it was over he was fine. That same day he played baseball after school.
If this happens more frequently you really should visit a doctor, but if it is like a 1 time random thing its not really something to worry about.

Your not a doctor. Do not tell him whats wrong like you know. This could be early warning signs of something serious. Read the disclaimer please.

He's right, the forums aren't the place to seek help.
I would consult a doctor.
