to start this off, i have been really lazy lately in going to the gym. im only going about once a week, and the season starts in about a week. i just wanted to know how often i should be at the gym a week to see some significant gains.
thanks

Three days a week. Never go twice in a row.
Well, that depends. Before the season started, I was weightlifting at least 3 or 4 times a week. The way I was doing it was chest, back, legs, and arms + shoulders. You can lift two days in a row if you don't use the same muscle groups on each of those two days.

1 week before the season starts lifting weights will not help you much. I suggest running sprints and HIIT things. Throw some tires, pull some stuff. Jumprope. These things will get you acclimated to the constant movement and change of direction during games.

offseason im there 6 days a week (alternating upper body and lower body everyday then giving myself a break on sundays)
in season i lift about 2-3 times a week and usually its just upper cuz i get enough legs by running and stuff from practice. while in season im not looking for gains, just to maintain what ive gained during the offseason. as soon as the seasons over i hit the gym hard again 6 days a week

Is it ok to play hockey and lacrosse in the winter and spring and then workout summer and fall or is the working out just lost during the sports even if im playing the sports s lot, like 5 times a week

You can work out every day of the week thats what I did before the season but just don't work on the same muscles each day do like upper body one day and lower body and your back and stomach the next plus run every day like a mile or so

If you are used to lifting weights and have gained alot and are in season and dont lift MOST of your gains will go to waste. So if you worked your butt off off season and want to keep gains then you have to lift in season. And practice running and condition is not enough to build muscle if you lift alot.
