MIke Powell Video Game

i was reading an article about how Mike Powell signed with brine and how they were going to give him his own clothing line but also make a video game. i think i read it on lax.com but the article was takin down. I not sure if i misread put im pretty sure its true. sry if im wrong.

a high-quality lacrosse game has great potential. but i can also see a crap game being made and souring the sport as far as electronic games go. i hope in the future EA Sports picks up lacrosse as a mainstream videogame sport, its something tottaly different as far as videogame sports go, and if the gameplay is fun it could appeal to much more than just the lax gamers.

i think that a lacrosse game could have huge potential if it was a good enough game where it would appeal to more than just the lacrosse world, and i think that if the game is good enough then it might make the game much larger as a whole...

I think this is bad for only one reason- Mike Powell.
He's an amazing player, yes, no doubt. Problem? He is not on a team. A video game needs to have a lisence to sell big. So they could either approach the NCAA or the MLL, neither of which Mikey is still associated with. So they will most likely use fictional teams and therefore alienate alot of people.
My thoughts- just go make an NCAA game, get the top 50 D1 schools. It would kick ***.

if they do go thru with it it could be something like the tony hawk games. mabey u start off as a young mikey playing in school then go to varsity and have to be accepted to cuse and then....i guess it ends. but yeah i think that to start off EA should make a NCAA game, jus like TRELAX said. it would in my mind definately be the best start, then they could branch off. who knows, mabey even a lax street?

have a franchise mode where you have to renew contracts with companies and such.

in create a player, you get to choose which helmet, stick, gloves that they wear. that'd be cool.

haha yea but they would have to get STX, gait, Warrior, adn brine to go along with it, which i think would be a very good thing, EA could do it, look at the NCAA football game. they could just sort of chnage it up for lacrosse.

That is something I would picture Warrior and MLL doing...they are the flash and bling of the lax world...
that would be sweet...also have a hidden special mode for trick shots...where you can design your own...

That would definatly be a good thing. It would only promote STx, Gait, Warrior and Brine. Think of how good that would be for some kid to pick up a copy of this game that knows nothing about lacrosse, and browse through the equipment and find that "wow, this looks fun."

As far as the teams, I think it should be NCAA too. In my opinino, some of those EAstcoast teams, such as princeton, syracuse, etc, are jsut as good as some of the pros. And althought it would cost a lot of money, what game doesnt to make? My only hope is that they woudlnt put bad programmers to teh game because they dont think it would sell, and then they find out its like #1 selling game, so they ahve to remake it.

The odd thing is about 6 months ago I e-mailed EA sports to recommend a lacrosse game. I informed them that it was one of the fastest (if not the fastest) growign sport in America, and it only is getting more popular. And as I recall, isn't tehre a PSX lacrosse game called "Blast Lacrosse"? I jsut chcked on ebay, and for an old game, its selling better than GTA3 for PS2.

That shows the game would only sell tons of copies if an older game is outselling a game taht was once rated #1 on charts.

haha that would be nearly impossible to have all those teams in a game. think of ncaa football, and then madden. if you combined those you would not only have different rules for each league but you would have WAYYYY too many teams.

Besides the typos, I stated that it sells for the same price as GTA3...which was once the #1 selling game. And Blast lacrosse has been out forever, and GTA3, not nearly as long.

it would have to be NCAA and would need to include DI and at least DII. but i dont see a EA Sports lacrosse game coming out anytime soon. first of all it would cost a lot to make and design. there are so many details in lacrosse that they would have to include (switching hands, types of shots, locations of shots, shot speed, moves, fakes, etc.)plus to inlcude equipment from STX, Brine, Warrior, Debeeer would cost alot since each company would probly ask from some sort of the profits of the game

and why would EA put all this money into a game that is not guaranteed(sp?) to sell like football and basketball. the main buyers would be lax players where in football and bball all types of people play these games

it would be sweet if it happened but im guessing it is not happening in the next couple of years (at least a good game)

about what equipment and cost from the manufacturers...
1) you don't NEED to specify equipment in a video game...can you select rawlings or spalding or nike or whatever baseball glove you want in baseball? no
2) they would PAY the game designers if they wanted to be the equipment sponsor of the game (ie see their sticks, or a banner along the field, etc)...not the other awy around...it would be great advertising for an equip mfgr if they could get a good game together...think about it...everytime we play we hear and see the equip mfgr's name

That means absolutely nothing. GTA3 sells for $20 brand new in stores because it's so popular, and Blast Lacrosse is rare and old and can't be found in any stores. There's also what, 4 auctions for it on ebay compared to GTA3's 200? Of course Blast will sell for more on ebay because it's so hard to find and it's the only lax game out there, it doesn't mean that it's insanely popular and that an updated version of it would sell millions.

Better yet, why not create a game using Sr. "A" teams in Canada (WLA and OLA Major Series) using Canadian rules. A lot of, if not most of the players in the NLL play Sr. "A" box during the summer.

Some of you also state that under an edit player option, you would want to have a choice of equipment. I say have a choice of what stick to use as well (wood or plastic).

What would be awsome is if as you got better in the game and your stats went up u could get better sticks. Also if when u started u had to use a wise faced stick like the proton and as you got more stats u could upgrade to like a super pinched stick and it would also improve your accuracy and control.
