trash bags for cold weather games

anyone ever heard of wearing a trash bag during very cold weather games? i should keep you dry, wind out, and heat in? any comments?

Ive seen people wear them at Road Races. But never at a lacrosse game. I have personally never tried it. People look stupid with them.

I assume he means under the jersey. I've never heard of a trash bag restricting movement either. I suppose if you don't mind getting made fun of for the next 6 months, then it is a pretty good idea if you are freezing your balls off.

I personally dont care about looks when I step on the field, so if it didnt hinder(sp?) movement I would wear one as a cheap alternative to underarmor.

It would probably work. wrestlers wear them during practice to sweat off more weight, so it should keep you pretty warm

Fashion sense aside, the biggest issue with cold weather is staying dry. You don't want anything wet next to your skin. If you throw on a garbage bag, or anything else that doesn't breathe, all you sweat is now trapped inside, especially with high output activities like lacrosse. It works for a little while, but in the end you'll end up soaking wet and cold. You are better off layering, starting with a synthetic wicking layer (UA, Lifa, Helly Hansen etc) and if possible a windproof, breathable on the outside (Gore-tex, Entrant)
